As we all know nearly all paintball markers out there are expensive to buy new. After the release of the smart parts Ion for around £200 new will companies follow or stick to the high prices. Point of this thread is, why do they cost so much and why do we spend so much. With tournaments capping guns to 15bps and you being able to spend £200 on a new gun which can fire faster than that,is small and light. Why are we spending £1000 on a new gun which can do the same thing. Ok I know there are differences, but with guns being capped why spend so much on gunz when in the real terms, they all do the same thing.

Spend £200 on a gun that fires 17bps max, has ramp and is small and light

or

Spend £1000 on a gun which can fire much faster, but cant be used in almost all tournaments and is also small and light.

Are we just paying for the name?
Dunno, have you just paid for the name?? :) :D

If I had the money, I know which I'd go for.

It's not in human nature to settle for something that's 'just good enough'. As I don't play tourney stuff, something like a Tippy A5 or an Ion would be all the firepower I need, but I choose to spend more on something I can rely on.

Something that'll do the job OK will soon wear out 'coz it's getting hammered all the time, whereas something a bit better made and more highly developed will do whatever you need without breaking a sweat.

Just my 2p :D

If you can afford to buy the bling gun and still have money left over to train & play then I don't think there is anything stupid about that. However if you blow your wad on a bling gat and then can't afford to use it, well that just strikes me as a little silly. But hey, its their money.
