People like to have a super expensive gun for;
1.The appearance
2. The feel of the gun
3. In most cases the more expensive guns will be a lot more reliable.

I do understand, we do pay what we get for, point I mean is why so much more, its not like an extra £200 or so, for better quality. Its £500+ in most cases. Im not here to start arguments, or who here is right or wrong, just want peoples opinions :)

I couldnt justify spending £600 - £700 on a new marker, but for the price of the Ion I'd rather get a second hand marker. They might be good for the money and have all the firing modes you could want, but I know several people who've had problems with them and they just dont feel 'right'.

You can pick up Angel A4's/Speed 05's for the 200 - 300 mark, and I'd much rather have one of those

Depending on the use the marker will receive

If you use your £200 marker once a month for maybe a cases worth of paint then i'd expect it to do an outstanding job of slinging that.

If however you use it 2-3 times and use 2-4 cases of paint each time, then you've got to ask yourself 'will this gun still be working reliably'

I shoot a proto trix, i have used a nyx, dm4(awesome value now), eclipse cocker and an ego in the past- i can honestly say this proto shoots as fast and is as reliable as any of those, i've landed on it awkward i've submerged it in a puddle by mistake and this thing keeps going and keeps spitting out the paint, i'm not sure i could of abused an ion (for example) in that way, or used it with the frequency i use this without having major support for parts.

MY opinion

A £200 marker is an excellent way for someone to get into the game of paintball - and compete equally, a player could compete at all levels with this provided they had good tech and parts support.

A £4-500 marker (second hand) will give you top level performence/reliability and quality for twice the cost, it might still break down but then parts are normally easily available and tend to be o-rings or seals. Also the futureproofing of these markers is achieveable through new boards and chips ( i believe the ion also has that)

A £500-1000 marker will give you this years top end gat (see above)

A £1000+ marker just gives you something a little more exclusive

plus the other thing the ion looks like it is from " toy 'R' us " with plastic bits on it and that to save on price and markers like the ego' angels, dm's etc are made out of metal and more sturdy hense the pricee and they feel like they aint gona break the first time u superman into a bunker.
But please dont get me wrong the ion is good for wat you get and i know eams use them for tournys so they aint that bad. But as everyone has said you get for wat you pay for.

lego is on a whole new level to ions you can build so much stuff

but seriously in my expirience with ions they just arent all there cracked up to be, people i know have had numerous problems with them.

As for spending £1k on a gat i would think its just for the bling factor and remember kids all paintballers like shiny new things and package arriving in the post once you have had a bad day at work/school.
