The FAQ in the latest issue of PGI's Article on Xball by Mike Carey

Q "Is it ok to cheat in Xball"

A "In a word, YES, just don't bitch when you get busted: do the crime - do the time.

Seems that the views differ depending on who you ask.

Anybody who thinks cheating is acceptable, no matter who they are, is a dick, is a dick, is a dick !!!!!

That whole argument is based upon the premise that the punishment nullifies the crime, it doesn't.
The whole idea that the nature of the crime is subjugated to the punishment would allow the notion of murder to be similarly written off if the perpetrator was willing to do, and does the time.

Whatever else it may be wiping in xball is stupid. I've yet to see a team survive a major penalty to win a match--tho it may have happened--but I've seen half a dozen instances or more of teams eating a major and losing.
It's even dumber when you figure if the player leaves the hit and keeps playing the worst he's gonna get is 2 minutes.

Two minutes that goes away with the next point scored by the other team.

That's what I don't like...if your team is in a losing position (say, 2 on 4), playing on is a no brainer. Maybe the judges don't catch you and you break the game and win the point. Maybe they do catch you and the worst thing that happens is...the other team scores a point. Wasn't that pretty likely to happen anyway?

A 2 minute penalty should be a 2 minute penalty--if it means the other team racks up 3 points in that time, you probably shouldn't have taken that chance.

At least the major penalties don't go away.

NXL rules..

Im not to familiar with the rule book, are there any rules in place to deal with an situation like the one below:

With just enough time on the gameclock for one last play, one of the teams trail by one point.
Whats to stop them from running down the field, despite being lit up, blatantly playing on, hoping to take advantage of the confusion to hang the flag an earn a draw.
None of the penalties will mean a thing since the game is allready over...

BTW I agree, 2 mins should mean 2 min. This is not hockey..

I would assume that the judges will be prepared for this, and the judges would have to be pretty blind to fall for all the confusion. It could be that all of the playing on is spotted, and the judges pull all the offending players, and assess penalties. It may then be that there is time for another game;)

But there are no 1-4-1 rules in xball right?

So by sending one or two players down the middle that just keeps going, the rest of the the team might now hold all the important bunkers on the 50 and start pinching out the other team..

Correct me if im wrong..

There isn't a 1-4-1 as such but the player committing the infraction is removed as eliminated and a second player is put in the box.
But otherwise there is no rule denying them whatever strategy they want to attempt in order to score that point. Of course the same is true regardless of the form of pball played. It remains on the officials to see to it the spirit of the game is maintained more or less intact.

acutually the thread says
is cheating ok in X-ball

the answer is no, it's not ok. That's my personal opinion (before everyone starts branding me a cheating *******)

Is cheating part of the game in X-ball? Yes.
A lot of Yank players live by the 'get caught doing the crime, do the time and don't whine'. In fact Ron Kilborne is pretty outspoken (at least he was at Campaign) about having the same mantra regarding rules, and the breaking therof.
And he's on the NPPL rules comittee.

Thing is........ if you wipe off the paint, then why bother playing at all? sort of makes a mockery of the whole game. I'm seeing it a lot now......some pretty blatant recently and apparently endemic in some teams. Why the hell play paintball? I'm starting to wonder, honestly.... maybe switch to a sport where knocked down player stays down.
For christs sake, lazer tag is starting to look good.
