just to add to what Duff has said, even though it's part of the rules, and part of the game, dosn't mean that a player should start cheating.

There still has to be some pride in playing clean. I tell the kids on my team, if they cheat, and they win, there's nothing we can do about it, but you gotta walk off with your head high, and know that they couldn't beat you in a fair fight, and you're better than those who have to cheat. It depends on the mentality of the player though, some people place winning at such a high cost that they will cheat, and cheat a lot!

I guess in a player's mind they have to decide if their morals are more important than winning. THe way the rules are structured in x-ball makes it easier to justify cheating though... which is sort of the basis for my earlier post.

Man I watched an X-ball game where the 'sinned' player ripped the field in two when he was released, he just shot down the middle of the field and mugged the lot of them. I'd say the 2 minute penalty worked in his favour.
and therein lays the stratgey of cheating in relation to x-ball

Ronnie from the tigers came from the dead box in Portugal and ran strait out to the ladder and mugged some yank in the USA England match.
it was awesome to watch, even if it did reward England for having a player in the Penalty box

Glory be the day when people do as they preach.

Some people make rules - others break them - sometimes it's the self same people.
It comes as no surprise to me we even ask these type questions anymore.
Some people are *******s, pure and simple and the day we legitimise any of their behaviour by writing off their dirty deeds as 'part of the game' is the day I haul my ass out of this sport.
Cheats need to be dealt with...end of !!!
If you get caught cheating in golf, you are banned for an extended period, no argument.
Penalties need to be steeper and more importantly, need to be handed out by judges more effectively.
Gun cheats should be banned for life if caught twice..no argument !!!

Playing on is one thing, wiping is another but designer gun cheating is a whole new ball game and a ball game where some poor sap is gonna be waving bye bye to one of his frikkin eye balls.

Couldnt agree more. I wouldnt class wiping and playing on as cheating in Xball, whereas gun cheats are the most heinous of crimes.

I think that playing on in Xball is not something that can be helped. If you get up to do a run through, and feel a ball clip you mid run, the last thing you are gonna do is stop and check yourself. Thats what the judges are there for, and thats where a determined judging crew will earn their keep. With the penalty system in place, calculated riskes are gonna be a part of the Xball strategy.

p.s ripping a player in half as you come out of the box is fun, especially if he has no idea that you are coming out!:p

I meant to focus on the playing on more than wiping. Wiping will become less rife i would hope, as the judges are gonna be all over players. The penalties are there, 5 minute penalties, and act as a deterrant. If the ricks are worth the potential reward though then it will happen.

Maybe i should have said that wiping will become less of a hangable offence. Like the footballer who already has a yellow card, and dives in the penalty area, he may win a penalty, but he may be sent off. Yet he still does it. It will be the same in Xball.

You misunderstand me Sam, I 100% do classify wiping as cheating in any ball, it's abhorent in any form.
It's unbelievable you have this opinion just as we are about to begin playing in the EXL and I wonder how many others in your team have the same opinion.
Wiping is just the same as some ******* taking a dive in football and should be dealt with by an immediate suspension for at least 3 games.
Wipers just cheat the system and their opponets on a matter of honour, gun design cheats not only cheat the system and opponents but also the ability of people to keep their eyes in their sockets.
But make no mistake about it Sam, wipers ARE cheats and I wonder what the hell you are doing in this sport if you believe otherwise.

And i agree about the view on wiping. I just think that it will become less of a hangable offence as judges will penalise and hand out penalties.

I am in no way condoning wiping, and i do not have a view that it is in any shape or form acceptable. I just think that it will become more widespread because there is a system to combat it

I am just not explaining myself particularly well.:)

What a wonderful system it must be if it does exactly the opposite of what it says on the tin!
