Well, as a dutch person I can only say that it's a really difficult situation. Taking Submission out of cinema's is done because of fear that the situation with the radical Islam groups will escalate. Where I do feel that taking Submission out of cinema's is a (huge) step back for freedom of speech, I also feel that this might be the only way to "keep those radicalists happy". But should they be kept "happy"? Should they get away with their threats of terrorism? Hell no. So fight terrorism. Not that easy, as history has taught us. Taking out Submission is probably an act of compromise, but it's also a sign of weakness. A weakness radicalists a happy to exploit once they get the chance. One other problem is the fact that radicalists are not neccesarily a group in the direct sense. Statistics show that radicalism is on an uprise since the murder on Theo van Gogh. More and more followers of the Islam (in any level of commitment) express radical ideas and thoughts about the whole situation, possibly in an attempt to throw some more oil on the fire. How on earth do you gain control over a situation like this?

What worries me even more is that are slack arsed country is unwilling or too ignorant to learn from our friends in the Netherlands.

Give these Muslim nutters an inch and they will take a mile. Only a few months ago I believe a jewish father of 4 was shot dead in the street in a random racist attack. (I think that is correct, I am sure Eddepet will be aware of the full details). Just for being Jewish.

How do you deal with that - how many normal people do you know that have the juice in their sack to go and suicide bomb a mosque in the name of religion? These are troubling times...

It will keep coming back to a question of intergration, regardless of whether it is US, UK or Europe.

Ultimately, most 'civilised' western soceity believes that the buck stops with the law. If you break the law, you are liable to face the consequences. Western laws are mostly derived from a sense of morality that has it's roots in Christian/Catholic faith.

However, the majority of Muslims do not accept our law and feel they are only answerable to Allah. How do we deal with that? You can not reason with people who believe that their thoughts, actions and ideals are direct from the big man upstairs.

On another matter - The BBC (that's Bagdad Broadcasting Corporation as it's now known ) is an utter joke. They are a bunch of EU biased left wing fairies who are too idle/scared/stupid to even attempt to question the notions of integration and whether people really do feel they are part of a 'multicultural' soceity or merely on the same land mass of a bunch of fractured ones - all trying to take the country in seperate directions. We have 'black music' shows on the BBC, a Music Of Black Origin award show - that offends me, do I not get to listen 'cause I'm a 'white boy'??

Trouble is, nothing will happen, political correctness is just another form of bullying. BBC controls a fair portion of the media so the slient majority's true sentiments are never reflected on our state TV.

It's time someone had the balls (and I mean Government wise) to say 'enough is enough' and bring a dose of common sense back to proceedings...

EDIT: Sorry, I'll give you the Majority of muslim's thing is not correct and needs qualifying. I mean that any devout muslim accepts Allah as the ultimate line of acceptance. If the country that they live in has laws that go against their religion they will break them as they believe Allah is the only true law to uphold. That make it more palatable for you?

I wasn't attempting to make any sort of political statement here, kids, but you gotta admit, however you view the situation the instance recounted by the BBC is the epitome of irony. I mean, c'mon, the Rotterdam Film pulls a film called SUBMISSION made by a MURDERED director when the original intent was to HONOR that director and champion FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. Chew on that for awhile and if you have comments see if we can keep them vaguely on topic.

I like a bit of friendly strife but there's no need to got to war (again) in this thread.

The problems are very simple. There are fundamentalist ****ers out there who think it's fine to kill/intimidate/imprison/repatriate people who disagree with them...some are muslims, some are jews, some are christians. They all need dealing with.

It has nothing to do with race or religion, which you seem to think it has.

And as for your edit, drop in the words Christians and God for Muslim and Allah and the sentence still holds...you know a Christian group is calling for everyone involed in that Jerry Springer opera to be killed? They published all the cast and crews' names, personal information, sexuality et al on their website and effectively did a Christan fatwa on 'em. They are white christian ****s, just the same as there are arabic muslim ****s.
