Here here Matty...

After speaking to Steve today (does nobody else try calling people these days? Why just email? Surely you can use a phone too?) on the phone, I can say that Portsmouth (despite what probably amounts to a fair bit of work) has the wrong end of the stick. The league is going ahead, and to have organised this event on the same day seems kind of odd, even though I suppose it makes sense- people will have planned for that day anyway.... But it could work out okay, as long as the Pompey guys and Brum guys work things out..

The biggest critisicm here is to Steve and Andy. God-love you guys, Im sure you're working back there, but let us know!!! There is no topic on the Inter-Uni forum about the league, you guys havent PROPERLY updated here for months, and people are getting worried!

As far as I know, its all in place.
Clubs/Societies MUST be affiliated with the UKPSF before they can enter the League- this is to go along with BUSA stuff.
After this all you need to do is pay your money- now Birmingham will be doing this for everybody- they have opened a new account (seperate to their own Society one) solely for this purpose, and will begin taking money over the next few weeks.
The dates for the league are the same as theyve always been, as are the locations...

For those who have forgotten :) :

Round 1 will be on Saturday 11th November 2006 and will be held at NPF Bassett’s Pole.
Round 2 will be on Saturday 2nd December 2006 and will be held at Dartford.
Round 3 will be on Saturday 3rd February 2007 (Venue to be confirmed).
Round 4 will be on Saturday 24th February 2007 and will be held at NPF Bassett’s Pole.

So the only problem left now is the cost for the December event. I guess its up to Pompey and Brum to decide what theyre going to do. I would imagine that if the League picks up then the Pompey event will die, as people will want to do an entire league rather than one event. Theres no reason for the two events not to merge, everyone saves money (£75 per leg), we get proper refs, Pompey gets to play, everybody wins!

Although we dont get as many prizes this way... Hmm Im with Pompey actually, I like the idea of coming last and getting a prize!!! :):)

The final announcement of what is happening with the league should be coming either later this evening or tomorrow. I have been chatting with Steve about this, but he currently does not have computer access.

The League is most certainly happening, but possibly with some of the event locations being switched around.

I should take this opportunity also to note that the cost per leg is only £75, but to be in the league you must enter all 4 rounds. This is to comply with BUSA regulations on the matter and if you end up attending any other events instead of one of the legs (ie. missing a leg for another event) then penalty points may be applied.

Thanks for your patience, guys, this should all be announced soon! :)

Edit: Just to add, this isn't "Brum's tournament", Steve just happens to be the person orchestrating it all at the moment, then after this season it is going to be turned over to an elected committee. I can see why people would think that at the moment, what with all the shots being called by Steve and Andy, but this will change!

Also, most of you lot have my MSN address, IM me if you have any questions about this, I can probably allay most of your fears!

A-hoy there people. Using some borrowed internets to get on the forum.

Yes - the league is going ahead.

Invoices from the PA refs and the venues are being recieved and processed this week. I am speaking to the clubs who have provided Andy with their UKPSF affiliation details, and am inviting them to enter a team. Those of you who are yet to register your details for the UKPSF affiliation need to get in touch with Andy or download the forum from the ukpsf uni site if you want to enter a team in the league. The club's that are entering teams will be sent an invoice which they will need to process payment for. (They should also receive an invoice for their UKPSF affiliation shortly.)

The dates are as per the website. However as Ran mentioned there will be a change to 1 or 2 of the venues. The final venues will be announced on Friday.

One detail to correct in Ran's post though - I will be looking to hand over running of the league to a committee of 3 club reps prior to the first round. I have a few people in mind that I think would be suitable, but anyone is open to stand. This will be organised on the UKPSF uni forums, along with any other decisions we need to vote on. But more about that next week, for now if you want to enter a team you need to register for ukpsf affiliation.

Right, off to make some more calls.

See you soon guys.

Just wondering guys, by £75 per leg, does this mean per round, or as a total for all 4 rounds (£10 per round sounds cheap, but £75 sounds expensive for 1 round.) Also, is there still going to be a championship round in the same format as last year, or are we purely going on the results of the league.

Its £300 for all four events...hence £75 per round / leg. Which is VERY CHEAP... you wont be able to find a competition you can enter for that price.

Remember if you split £300 between 5/6 players, depending on how many you have. That's only £60 for four events , which works out at just over £10-£13 per event each....which again is very cheap.

The Championship event (March) will more then likely be the same format as last year which will be open to all teams, not just the teams entered in the league.

Hope this helped,

Mike

As Mike said, it is £75 per team per round, and to enter the league, each team must enter all 4 rounds so it is £300 entry to the league, events included!

Bear in mind that the UK Masters is £200 per round. This is pretty damned cheap!
