I agree that the noise from the crowd decreases the impact of the coach. I would like to see coaches either eliminated or equiped with electronic communications devices. I have been screwed over by hearing a voice very like that of the coach telling me the wrong info as a game ended.
The tension of players searching the field is lost, but that means that a lot of relatively dull game time is lost, too. The college team playing Xball at WC 2002 was boring, yes, but the college teams playing at Huntington Beach was physical comedy. Competent teams are fun to watch on the Xball field.
