where i work at the weekends we have the 20 min speech too
put in the " a paintball travels at 150mph aprox and if it hits you in the eye YOU WILL LOST THE EYE AND HALF YOUR BRAIN TOO (IF THEY HAVE ONE )" . but to be honest its the ones with the egos who lift the masks its the" im hard it wont happen to me " that are worst,
i just say ill be sorry for about 10 seconds you will be for the rest of your life if you still have one .

oh by the way the glue idea sounds good though .

(p.s went to watch a tourney at the site and watched a pro player lift too (more interested in new marker than rules ) so not just rec players ,..

At our site we tell them we have a zero-tolerance policy on goggle-lifting, one lift and you're out for the whole day! Yes we enforce it too. Tell them paintballs travel at 100pmh & they will have no trouble at all in knocking their eyeballs into the backs of their skulls!! Also make sure they demist every time they return to base (neat washing up liquid is better than all the demist solutions!) and make sure if they wear hoods that they dont have the chin bit over their mouths.

One time i was at a field and the ref got so incredibly mad at this kid who always took his goggles off the ref threw a baked potatoe at him. He was eating lunch than he launched it right at his head hit him square in the face and said " I bet u would have liked ur goggles on when i threw that"

I never laughed so hard

My army helmet had a chin strap, we had no trouble communicating. I've worn cycle helmets and rock climbing helmets, and none of them were uncomfortable.Getting sweaty is what we do, it's sport , after all.
Paintball mask straps wouldn't even have to be as tight as those are, they would be there to make you think before you remove your mask. It's not holding it in place.

When I marshall we give the saftey brief and mention goggles all the time. Some times the "at best they will scoop out whats left of your eye with a spoon and stich it back up, or otherwise you will be dead before you hit the ground" story works quite well.

One time one marshall shot another in the leg to prove the bruise and pain that is caused there. (he was a little bit pissed) but it got the idea through to the kids.

For our Little league players (using plastic things that you cock by pulling back a lever and the only get 5-10 shots a game, you can buy them in Toys'r'us) we give them an insentive cause some times big games a taking place on other areas of site but you cant risk a stray ball. Insentive like if you are goo you get 10 shots on a big gun down the range.

(last time they even played sup'air which was the funniest sight cause there was not enough paint to keep their heads down so it was just lots of kids running around in circles around the tea bags LMAO)

Other than that, Sparklie does a good humiliation if we think they need it. Or you get them to wear the luminous yellow shoot me jacket and both teams can shoot you Ohh and you cant take your marker out for that game,

They play nice after that.

VW's are the game
Do like they do in Industrial Work places and find some of them posters with people's eyes hanging out of their head and blood everywhere. To remind us not to wear jewelry in the work place we have a pic with this guys finger that has all the meat ripped off the bones from the place where the fingers meet all the way to the tip. Man that **** works for me. Horror stories tend to work as well. But I tell you if you can find some posters they will make people think about what they are doing!:D

we sat and worked out the speed of the paintballs coming out of the gun it is about 180mph and after explaining what this would do to the punters most do not take there mask off but you will always get one or two idiots who still do it so we tell them the same as gogger first time you sit out a game second time you will be rmoved from the site (sid does the removing )usually after the first time they stop it is also a good idea to take kitchen roll out with you to clean there masks and let them know if they fog up to call for a marshall to clear it
