IF... a bar code system is on the agenda then when you get your id card you are also handed a barcode sticker or something to put on your marker, security are given handhelds and when they scan a card they can scan the the marker and if they dont match then questions can be asked etc

pie in the sky idea i know, but an idea never the less ;)

I was thinking something similar... but there are so many get arounds (bags?) and complications (running back or carrying a spare gun for someone)...

I suppose its like having an alarm system or your house, it might not have even been switched on but its there and works as a detterent, barcode system might not prevent light finger shopping but it might reduce it.

Or we hire US security guards who will shoot dead anyone who looks suspicious, then find out afterwards if they prevented anything:D

Some quick answers....

Each player gets a truly individual score - if one of my Duckling teammates plays more events than I do then he has a higher score.

Being forced to play higher - TOUGH **** - that is what the system is meant to combat. Player rankings will not be some deep dark secret - they will be available for everyone to see. That way a team can calculate for themselves what division they will be playing in. If they don't like it then they will have to weaken their team.

As I said all this would be checked when a team registers online. Kinda like shopping with Amazon... "According to your team's combined ranking you must play minimum Am A - are you sure you want to register?"

Everything else - Bar Code scanner, retinal scans, team multipliers, infrared GPS guided player seekers ensuring the team is at the field on time - will have to wait until we actually are allowed to have a basic system like this. But the possibilities are there.

P.S. easier way to take care of your kit is to LOCK YOUR BAG!!

Just a couple of things...

Let me say first that this is a good idea, in theory, but it get's a bit sticky when you start forcing teams to move up a division mid-season. If you're playing for a season title, which is what everyone is hoping to win if you play all the events, then it doesn't seem right to force that team to move up before the end of the season, and forfeit their points because they're doing well. Player / team rankings would have to be based on a season total, and then applied before the next season, if we're talking about Millennium. That said though, the system in place would not allow a team to pick up players from a higher division at the end of the season, in hopes of pulling off an upset in the last event. That is what we're really talking about. And there were quite a few Am B teams who did just that at Campaign. Thankfully, none of those teams stole the event.

This system would also have to be influenced by how many of the same guys played together on that team, or if you've got a mix of guys that have high rankings, but never played together before. Part of that experience gained is based on playing together as a team, not just the individual experience. Only to an extent though, because good players are good players. But then look at that German Am B team at Campaign that had "those two pro players who shall remain nameless." You see where I'm going with this GOOSE! If you're not understanding me, maybe BROCKDORFF could explain it to you. ;) ;) They had a couple of pro's on the roster, but still did not make it to finals, so the experience of playing together factors in.

Or set a limit on the players themselves. If 50% of your roster played at least 3 events as pro the year before, then you can play no lower than Am A. For Am B, you would have to weigh the experience of the total roster. And then the experience points would be factored based on the results of that Pro / Am A team. I'm just throwing out numbers - they could be adjusted to where everyone agrees. My team, for example, finished 4th overall, but had 3 or 4 ABSOLUTE novices at 2 of the 5 events we played, and the results reflected it. So there has to be some consideration for Am B and Novice, as to the total weight of the roster.

Just some thoughts.....

@goose:

how long would it take to start sucha system? next season?
and where to register for those cards, maybe it was mentioned before!? <- in combination with the driverlicense to get real names, ... - and jesus i've seen lots of stupid MS id-cards

:D

Let me state this once and for all.

IF and only IF we can ever get the MS to agree to this, I think that it would take at least 6 months to a year to get it up and running properly. With something this big & complicated I would not even attempt to use it until I and other have tried as hard as they could to break the system.

But the biggest hurdle we have right now is acceptance by the "powers higher up".

Will let people know how that goes...
