Ok

So on one side you've Chuck with a player focused 7man set up that will intergrate with the Millennium 7 man. WDP are in and one other major sponsor has pulled out of Xball to be part of it. Rumours of Euro style tourneys with good venues.

On the other you've got PSP & Xball, where the elite play amongst themselves and the tournaments are divided between those that do and those that don't (play Xball). Same cities which probably means same style venues.

Personally my money's on NPPL (if the paintball politic gods will allow it).

I tend to be an optimist but I'm pessimistic on this one. I realize the power of sharp, well-funded attorneys in the United Snakes. The golden rule I mentioned quite a few posts back. I suspect this issue is tied up very much in legalities of name owner**** and whatnot. The master intimidators will probably win. Could be wrong however. Actually hope I am.

Hey Beak, the only thing that may well be slightly awry in your post is that it is nowhere near a done deal that the NPPL 7-Man will have an automatic integration with the Millennium.
It was certainly proposed and is wanted by Chuck but there may well be waiting in the wings, an exclusion clause that prevents promoters who sign on for X-ball from having anything to do with the NPPL 7-Man.

The next two or three days are the most critical in the way it is all going to unfold...now where's that fence ....ooops, it's looking kinda full to me ...:)

I can see that happening, to spite Chuck if nothing else!

IF Chuck can keep the name and get the thing going
IF Chuck can get the venues & promoters
IF Chuck can beat the PSP at the events (as the Euro's do)
IF Chuck can sort out the reffing mess
IF Chuck can keep enough big names with him to validate it with Joe public
IF Chuck can keep the events affordable for the up and coming teams

Then the NPPL will be home free and the PSP will be hurting.

But I'm well aware of the scale of those IF's !!!

He has the venues and he along with WDP will be the promoters !

I think the association with WDP alone will ensure the events are better than the PSP's !!

The ref's will all be trained by pros and will be the same reffing crew from tournament to tournament !!

The validation is done by keeping the NPPL tag, and working with WDP, and other big industry figures; we have also heard that Kingman may well have instructed BC to go with the 7 -Man !!!

Affordability is going to be a key issue, especially when trying to attract teams over from the PSP and I'm sure Chuck and WDP won't pitch it too high !!!

Looking kinda interesting over the next few days !!!

Gotta love the politics....

First, back on the "Players caring about NPPL" - yes, many or even most regular players have heard of NPPL. No, most don't give a crap about it. What's going on in NPPL simply doesn't concern the vast majority of regular rec/scenario players, and doesn't even concern a good chunk of tournament players, anymore than world cup soccer is of any concern to millions of kids who play local soccer leagues - or in their backyard - in the US. For them its a game they play with their buddies to have fun. They're not playing to become the next professional sports star.

This isn't a slam Pete, but I'm pretty positive that I interact with your average paintball player a lot more than you do. The average paintball player shoots a Spyder or M98 in the woods behind their parent's house. Their magazine of choice is Paintball or maybe APG. One of the guys in an office down the hall here has a buncha kids who play in his back yard all the time, apparently every weekend - NPPL just is not in their realm of existence.

Now, onto NPPL/PSP -

Actually, nevermind - I had a good 4 paragraphs written out here, but I think I'd be much wiser to just keep my mouth shut. ;)

is playing with m98 in the woods in your back garden really paintball in its modern form. i know that most tourney players start in the woods playing rec but they move to the game where there is better play (concept), and a slight chance of getting famous - a pick in pgi or mention on tv, etc.
the future of paintball in born in the woods but soon grows and ventures to the sup air field.
as soon as eople start thinking about tourney ball they will start thinking about the organisers of the tourneys, whether it is a small tourney series run by 'hicksville tourneys*' or 'temple' or a big international event 'millennium series' 'nppl' 'psp'.

and they players playing this series would care who is the best, how they play and what they use
