I Hate Paintball players

This is actually--for once--an interesting subject.
I come down somewhere in-between the two basic opinions being given because it is sometimes necessary to move on in order to find your real potential but individual commitment and loyalty to a team is also important to ultimate success as well and the one frequently interferes with the other.
The problem is knowing when is the right time to pursue your dream and when is the right time to put your eggs in the team basket and stick it out. Moving on becomes a habit and the player too often is solely or more concerned with themselves than with their team and trust me, in that situation you seldom find any success either.
If you look at the US Pro teams plenty of them make the effort to pack their squads with "star" players and look what good it does them. It's annual roster roulette. Are they good players and good teams? Yes, but way more often than not they aren't good enough because at the Pro level it isn't about being good, it's about winning--and teams win, not players.

If you do not have a consuming desire to be the best player no matter what it takes then you are better off staying where you're at. If at some point you love your teammates but their attitudes and play and training habits start to drive you crazy then it's time to find a new home or accept lowered expectations.

Well put. Been trying to get my feelings on the subject out all evening, but I've been struggling to find the right words and couldn't have put it any better.

I feel most you guys are TOTALLY missing the point - which to me was, if you would leave your team (full of mates) in order to develop as a player...

So - we are talking about leaving a team which is NOT developing but pretty much standing still and never going anywhere - not about leaving a team which is constantly moving up the ladder (and might have the talent to be one of best, who knows?), to join a team which in that very moment is better ranked!

There is a difference!!!!

Would you leave a team and your best mates through a long time, who are NOT willing to give as much as you in order to develop - and in that way actually keeping you from getting better?

I mean - people are different and they play for different reasons, you might want to become the best there is - or at least try to - and your team mates might just want to play for the fun of it - in my mind if they are indeed good mates, they would NEVER hold it against you if you moved on to a team which WOULD allow you to develop even more... :)

I think that you make a very valid point about the distinction between leaving an improving team and a stationary team.

In my mind its justifiable to leave a team that is going nowhere, whether its full of your best mates or not, assuming that you're looking to improve as a player. I recently did just this, i left a team full of some of my closest friends to join Redemption, mainly because some of the players on the old team just didnt have the commitment that I was looking for in a team and it was holding everyone back.

On the other hand, I think its really shallow and treacherous to jump ship on a developing team that has a real future ahead of it just in order to join an already established team with a higher ranking.

My 2 cents :)

Hope that wasnt aimed at anyone in particular
Think when it comes to leaving teams if you're in it for the fun then fair enough staying with friends to play tournies etc, buuut....if you're given an oppurtunity that will get you places and you're willing to dedicate the time then it would be stupid to turn it down. Guess there's just a lot of people that play for fun and nothing else.
No offense but damn CJ that was a silly comment! :p You pretty much missed Kats point there huh? Nevermind, I'll laugh at you in person next time and let it go ;)

Righty from my POV it all comes down to the individual. I mean at the end of the day the UK baller scene doesnt have the motivation the U.S does. Wheres the hard cash? I'm talking the big hard cash that really will make people strive to be the best? Fact is it aint there. Right now youre competing for a title and some glory. And when theres nothing to gain why put something at stake? The game is also a game. Now I aint saying I would turn down a place on a big name squad but it would have to offer me something special, because should I leave I'm basically travelling 100% + more to ultimately gain the same thing I could if I worked hard with my buddies back home. I'm still playing the same game I would be with a big squad and with adequate training could ultimately be playing at a respectable level. What I'm trying to say is:

Until there big money introduced into UK paintball its still ultimately a game. And I'd rather play that game with a group of people I am close to.

theres the difference, some people just want to be the best, they aint doing it for the prizes, they want the trophys and want everyone else to know they are the best,.

Thankfully there are people without such a narrow minded approach to UK paintball or we'd be doomed.
Perhaps take a look at this months PGI and you may realise what Im on about.

Right some players have got the whole point wrong in which i am trying to make. I have nothing against players playing with there mates and was not talking about these players. What i am trying to say is that there are good players in different teams that complete in the Milleniums who want WIN and moan about there team not doing well, and yet they MUST be happy just to play these events. Its these players that bug me i just say to them don't keep on moaning about not doing well with your team, if you want more( AND ONCE AGAIN THIS IS JUST FOR THE PLAYERS THAT HAVE THE PASSION AND WILL TO WIN ) go out and find that team, there are teasm out there.

There's always a thread talking about how we compare with the rest of the world and i know we have a couple of good teams but after that we have nothing!!!!!
