Unfortunately it's about 80% true though. Americans abroad generally act like a bunch of tw@ts, because they expect that everywhere they go it'll be just like the US. Sometimes it's extremely funny, but most of the time it's not. And for those of us who live over here, they lump us into that same "stupid American tourist" category until we prove otherwise.

Mate, you never heard of 'Brits abroad'?

Any self-respecting Brit goes to to any coastal resort in Spain or Greece, any time of the year, and you get so embarrased and ashamed you want to kill yourself.

And the 'Germans abroad' phenomenon is also widely recognised.

The problem is not one of nationality, the problem is that 80% of the people on this planet, no matter where they are from, are twats - you just notice your own more.

Everywhere I went all weekend I saw American players pushing the limits of what they could get away with.

Maybe you didn't hear about who Laurent had to call the police to stop Avalanche players from fighting with Miami effect players. You've obviously heard about the things that were said to cjansen.
You read about what LaSoya's done.

I've been to all the events this year, and the American teams were great, they were well behaved , real pros.
And those same teams were great this weekend.
But some of the other American teams were really badly behaved.

So I'll amend my statement earlier and say that 'some of the American teams were very badly behaved'.

But I will say that the teams I noticed stirring thing up were all American (not to say that there weren't other teams misbehaving just that I only remember Americans acting up)

Specifically about the fight, the one person who leapt to the scene to sort it out was Rich Telford; so I have to say good job someone like him is prepared to sort the players out.

TJ, thanks for pointing it out, I'm not trying to paint all the American teams with the same brush. I'm just a bit upset that these guys came over to Toulouse and decided that they could do whatever they like with no repercussions.

This wasn't said to me, but was said in my presence, as I was working the pits for Team Russia, and Team USA was prepping for their game.

Cool Bro...just gotta be careful in situations like these that genuine grievances against specific teams and players don't get lost under a wave of anti-whoever-ism. Cos when that happens, tha innocent get tarnished and real problems tend to disappear cos they were addressed in a too general sense.

Hear endeth tha sermon from tha mountain.:p

Like i said, i really enjoy what american teams like Dynasty, Strange, Bad Company, and others bring to the Millenium Series. It's a shame that a some of the other American teams can't be as 'professional' about things.

Why can't they be bad boys like Hard core, who party hard but don't mess things up for others?

anyhow enough said.

On the whole there is a lot of anti-American feeling around at the moment and I'm not taliking about paintball here.

I don't think many Americans realise how strong these feelings are, those living abroard certainly do.

So the last thing that you need is for American teams to come over and wind people up with their bad behaviour.

You need players to help repair the damage done to the USA's reputation by President Bush.

I'll share something with you.
We were sat in a bar near the comfort in, and these two french dudes came up and asked us if we were english or american. Obviously they heard us talking and since my team mates are british they said that they were brits, and the two dudes just stared at us for a bit.

Then i realised they were staring at me 'cause i sound 'american' to them.
At that point i stopped them and told them i wasn't american, that i was canadian, and they seemed a bit better about that, although they probably didn't believe me, or maybe didn't understand the difference.

The whole thing was a bit unnerving.

Roland,
If you or anyone else wants to start a political discussion--do so over in SYB. (And we'll see if The Great Pie Eater allows it)

Rhetorical Question: I take it you're also very concerned about Britain's reputation due to the actions of Tony Blair, too? ;) :p
