In a decidedly non-scientific effort to decipher the intent of the voters in France and the Netherlands the kids in Brussels consulted their official EU Magic 8 Ball and got the (not unexpected) answer, "Try again."

In that spirit and given the latest fit of Paintball hysteria UK style what with the Violent Crimes Reduction bill possibly swallowing up Paintball--or at least getting ever closer to including Paintball--TFP ask you "How to preserve Paintball in the UK?"

Bonus question--What will Paintball in the UK look like in 5 years?

the best ways to preserve paintball?

1: get more national press (good) in the papers, top uk teams in the millenium seris etc.

2: introduce younger players through youth and sports clubs/organizations.

3: registration of all markers (by owners choice) and all new markers to be registered (like when you buy a new tele or video)

4: promote promote promote

just my opinions, but should help

paintball in the next 5 years... lets get paintball on the map commonwealth/olympic games teams. providing they bring it into those major sporting events

number nine all the way :)

paintball in five years - will not have progressed that far. Two tournaments a year (NPPL?!?! and MS) will bring some profeesionalism and public awareness, but after the hoo ha, itll return to normal. Bully will continue to do evrything on his own without any sort of thanks and we'll all take him for granted :)

i think

in my personal opinion, not that it will make a differance, i dont see how marker registration would help can some one explain this to me. but i thin if the public were educated more (how i dont know) maybe papers and tv but i think it would help. i told my work mate that i played paintball they said "arnt you a bit old for playin army in the woods all dressed in cammo". i then tried to explain super air and they were shocked on how big the sport, sorry hobby is and that we dont play in the woods well not all of us.

i think what im trying to say people just think what they think paintball is and not find out what it realy is. so they do need educating.

does anyone else share my veiws

Exactly, Mario knows it's all about Number9!

Back in the woods; sure it was easier to cheat, more stuff to trip over, and plenty of natural 2x4 lying around to club the other team with if you lost. BUT it was also harder watch; meaning fewer people will see what we get up to with our automatic air weapons. Think about it people.

OR

Anything that adds to the legitimacy of the game is a good idea, the problem of who pays for it is something paintballers don't like though;)

UK Paintball in 5 years?

Hopefully all the BS will have been dropped - the politics behind the scenes will be a distant memory, and people will stop obsessing about "public this" and "spectators that" and actually put the time and effort into running the best tournament possible for the paying customer, rather than trying to put on whatever image to the public/line their own pockets.

Then again, it could be thought-controlled 100bps gats and heat seaking paintballs, with the latest cheats being bathing in ice before a game to prevent the heat seakers locking on...

If people really want to promote the paintball scene as a whole why dont we try to get some of the manufacters together to pay for a load of fliers to be printed off and get a few 'ballers in each area of the city to hand them out, might get more people interested as I never seem to see any paintball related advertising around.

Infact, anyone has any contact numbers of manufacturers/sites that may be interested, let me know and I'll try to sort it myself.

Its rare to come across someone who dosent play painball that knows that there are professional tournaments and leagues. If we could get more programs on tv aired, not recreational ones like weve seen in the past, but proper tournaments, then thats a good starting point for people to regard it more seriously.
