its not bounces on the floor you need to worry about, its bounces off the bunkers had some at lincoln bouncing over the netting & over the marque(sp? Big tent:D ) would have said that was an extra 50ft on top the length of the field.

well the ball's will bounce off the floor sometime's, i know they may not carry as much power, but they could still do damage. you want us to include that

Oh noes it touched my shoe i'm sueing you!

depending on which angle you shoot at wouldn't that affect the distance?

A lot of things would effect how a gun fires but I am trying to get a honest poll on how far you think they will fire. Want to see what you guys think should be a safe distance to be away with out any safety netting. Don't care how the ball gets to hitting its target once it has left thegun. But do want to know what distance you'd feel safe with out a mask on if people were firing guns your way.

well it depends tbh, if you fire it horizontal to the ground... then 50-100 feet depending on wind etc, if you fire it at 45 degrees into the air, kiss that paintball goodbye ;p (id say >300 feet)

You can roughly work this out mathmatically.

And I say roughly as air resistance and aerodynamics will never be a constant (unless indoors using marbles). Use google to get the formula for calculating distance using the mass of the ball, velocity and angle.

Speed = distance divided by time.

Distance = Speed x Time

Time = Distance divided by time.

Not sure about angle though.

its a lot more complex than that,

the paintball has a parabolic motion, so

its impossible to work out how far it will travel without an angle

at 300fps thats 200mph (give or take) which is around 100 metres per second

its really hard to explain without a diagram

ball will start going horizontal........ like so.......... ------->

then it will curve, and its motion will be split up into 2 components,

its velocity will then be (v cos @) **with @ representing theeta** (cos because its the horizontal part of the motion)
so you know the speed it travels

but you still need to know the angle it is shot at and the time taken for it to hit the deck
