All for more women playing paintball.

And yes it is nice to get the chance to be around other women that play ball, but in my view, once you have a marker in your hand and your goggles on your "girl card" becomes invalid. (and it took me a while to see that a few friendly “lessons” from the guys to teach me I was equal, but now we are even) ;)

So does it matter what gender the other people you play next to are?? So long as you play well together and get on (ideally)

And yeah let’s ask Robbo...... I love it when he gets on this topic. He’ll go for hours.

Since my name has been bandied around a few times by some friends of mine above, I thought I better tell you the real truth of the matter.

Women have significant disadvantages if they wanna compete with us men-folk on the paintball field, any pc idiot who wants to debate this deserves a whack in the nuts for even trying to.

Women are not as fast, as explosive or as aggressive as men.
These factors are hugely important when playing paintball but..and it's a significant but, women ballers can get round this problem by utilising different strategies.

I was always of the opinion that women did not have the same muscle reflex capabilities as men (leading to a slower snap shot), I have scoured the net for proof of this but to no avail, it would seem there is no reason that women should suffer slower reflex movements, certainly anatomically there isn't anyway.
I am as yet unconvinced they do have the same reflex capabilities but this is somewhat academic if what I am now suggesting is true.
The Fat Ladies Charms are a supreme example of women working round any shortfalls and concentrating their game on their strengths.
Strategically, they tend to be defensive in nature against teams who are quite capable but the FLC become aggressive when playing teams who may not be that good.
This is a pretty good strategy to adopt for obvious reasons.
They are excellent shots and understand lane shooting and its attendant potential; they also understand the dynamics of staying tight.
I had to interview Anja for the magazine a few weeks back and I talked to her extensively (a tough job but somebody's gotta do it :) ) and I was pretty impressed (I'm not being patronizing here) with her understanding of the game.
Technically, their snap shooting is pretty good and they may not be the fastest but because their snap-shot is technically proficient, it seems them past any shortfall, if in fact there is any in this department.
These features of their game alone can account for their success as ballers.
Originally, I genuinely believed they couldn't get around these shortfalls but they proved me wrong and paintball is all the better for it I have to say.
The obvious question is now, can they make pro status?
I ain't even gonna venture an opinion on this one as life has this habit of creeping up behind you and givin' it to you straight in the ass and I ain¡'t quite ready to join Duffitusta and his regiment of gay boys, so I will keep my mouth shut.

Id just like to add that rental has no affiliation with the DCF and we believe all women should stay in the kitchen or at home looking after the children where they should be ;)

From here...

"Neuromuscular and Phisiological Factors"

Researchers are investigating a related aspect of neurology with regards to muscle firing pattern. Scott Lephart et al. (2002) have been observing motor reflex arcs in women and have speculated that women may have a longer electromechanical delay than men. When a person senses a disruption, she immediately communicates to the brain via alpha motor neurons to produce both spinal reflexes and muscle spindle triggering. Such messages usually take a short amount of time to reach the target tissue, but recent evaluations suggest that males and females exhibit slight differences in reaction times (Lephart 2002). The electromechanical delay can reduce muscle reaction and therefore allow ligaments such as the ACL to be stretched for a longer period of time than they normally would. Shorter electromechanical delay can actually bring the surrounding muscles to flexion, in turn reducing the load forced on the ACL (Lephart 2002). Slow motor reflex and quadriceps overuse leaves untrained females participating in physical activity at an extremely high risk for ACL injury.

ACL Refers to the ANTERIOR CRUCIATE LIGAMENT. Women are more prone to tear this ligament, resulting in Knee injuries.

Your welcome mate!:D

Nooooo, actually I ain't Ellcie; previously I woulda said you gals would had as much chance of being good enough to go pro as Piper has of getting down to 19 stone, but the Fat Lady's Charms have rewritten my head as to what is possible.
It's true to say that I have this nagging doubt as to whether or not they can make it as pro but I'm not sure if it's rampant sexism trying to resurface or just an acknowledgement of gender differences when it comes to athletic endeavours.
Either way it matters not because I ain't gonna risk voicing an opinion coz sure as ****, the FLC or maybe even the Harpes are gonna make pro some day and you can bet your bottom dollar, some schmuck is gonna rub my nose it when it happens.

Nah, expereince is now telling me to shut the fcuk up when it comes to chicks playing paintball instead of doing what they are genetically wired up to (serving us menfolk).........:)

Skeet, thanks for that mate, though when I did scour the net, there were an abundance of papers on the subject that run contra to the findings of what you have posted.
When you get contradictory findings from differing research labs, it gets kinda confusing as to which one to believe.
It seems ludicrous to me that physiological reactions such as muscle response times (when supposedly scientifically researched) can throw up such contradictory results.
What you posted does pretty much reconcile itself with what I have seen but it doesn't prove it though if I were to hazard a guess I would tend to agree with the findings above but not because of any sexist opinions I may harbour but because of what I have already actually seen for myself.
That explosive snap the guys have, I haven't yet seen duplicated by any girl but this isn't a proof, nowhere near it, it may mean that the girls don't train this area as extensively as guys or the girls I have seen (at the time I saw them) are not representative of what can be achieved.
Either way again, I ain't saying no more for fear of my life :)

I think, the "explosive snap", has been de-evolved, with regards to females (bar those frightening Amazonians!).

The "Hunter instinct" is not as necessary in females, and hasnt been for some time, so..I'm guessing that that is why, any adrenalin in the system, has less of an effect in females, with regards to paintball.

That is not to say, that plymetrics etc, wouldnt have any positive effect on such abilities...im sure they would...can you train a female body, to react faster?
It would certainly seem likely to me.

Oh well I´m very aggressive - but I´m not sure wether that´s due to the fact I´m female or due to my genes? :D

ANYHOW - I will have to agree 100% with you on the fact, that women aren´t as fast as men, that really can´t be up for discussion - at least not when you compare the top of each "pool". But luckily enough all paintball games aren´t won alone on speed nor physical strength! I think that has been prooven by now....... ;)

Well basically if you practise with someone WAY better than yourself (at least to begin with!), you devolope your skills SO much faster than if you practise with someone on your own level - soon enough you will find yourself being equal to those who at first were untouchable skill-wise!

My snapshooting, running´n´shooting and BPS for instanse, I would say is better than (or just as good as) the average player I practise against - however, I´m very much aware of the fact that I am without any doubt amongst the slowest........ Exactly that is a reason for me - as a female player - to compensate by simply being better at those skills, I do know I´m able to become superiour at (with a lot of practise).

That must be the only real advise - male or female - do practise with someone better than yourself! At first I was very much intimidated by the fact I had to practise with Pros and 1. div. players, but HELL it got me a long way up the ladder in only 1 year - making me able to compete equal with the very same players I feared not that long ago! ;)

I would say - get those girlie asses on the field!!!!!!!
