Edit: However they could change markers to the airgun category fairly easily. So only licenced shops are allowed to sell. Have to be 18 or over to buy etc...
Licensing-wise, this is where paintball 'guns' fall now. You have to be 14 to own one & 17 to buy one. A paintball gun cannot, legally be gifted to anyone under 14 & must be used under the supervision of a 'competent' person over 17. Tachnically speaking, there is no such thing as a fully automatic paintball gun. The difference being, that all other guns/weapons/firearms that shoot/operate on full automatic, do so by utilising spent gasses from the previous discharge to re-cock the weapon, whilst the sear remains held down. A paintball gun has to physically operate a seperate solenoid in order to re-fire, technically making it an 'assisted automatic operation,' which is not legislated for, or even mentioned in the UK firearms laws & mandates & although this does not make it legal, neither does it make it illegal. Without a test-case going to a High court (NOT a magistrate's court) a ruling cannot be made either way, hence 'Only a Judge can decide'

The best thing that could happen is that some little scrote actually does get arrested & tried for using a 'full auto' paintball gun. This way a Judge will have to commit to a ruling either for or against it, doing away with the 'grey area' altogether. This way, at least there would be black & white rules & guidelines for us to follow. Until this happens, we will always be in a state of gun/not gun limbo.

Okay so to summarise :):)

Its unclear, most people are of the 'ignore it, itll go away' mindset

Some people think its actually illegal, something to do with triggerpulls etc

Some people think its not illegal, but not legal either, just the courts havent got round to specific legislation

And some people think its legal, just not advisable, nor permitted at most/all sites and tournaments...

Great. This is where I close my eyes and pick one at random!!!

:)

Seriously though, it is the only way we'll ever know for sure where we stand.
The way the Govt is legislating at the moment, we'd just get banned. As I said, airsoft is on borrowed time whether it knows it or not.

This new airgun legislation is the result of one specific incident and some political manoevering in the corridors of power. It only takes one thing...

I think your sig, sums up what our best course of action is.

Not the bit with the coppers:D

We're better off self-regulating & trying to follow what few guidelines there are, as regards to the 'full auto' issue. By not allowing it in the UK, we're never going to be in a situation whereby a courtcase could happen to get paintball banned. I think the general gist of what I'm trying to say is that no, full auto is not illegal in the UK, but if sites & tournament organisers allowed it to be used, we could potentially be put in a bad situation (by bad I mean terminal)

Aye, I think you're right, excpet for the bit about the court case. FA or not, the way society and the Govt are going it'll get banned sooner or later anyway. Best try to make it later eh...I'm too old for a career change.:p
