Accuracy n stuff

How you aim it with the longer barrel is not though i.e. if you look at the end of your barrel when you aim.

look at it this way if lengh really made a differance wouldn't every back player use an 18" ??

The only advantage to a long barrel is for bending sup air bunkers out the way! :D
You would think wouldn't you, what puzzles me is that some people will swear by an 18" barrel, and say that it has far greater accuracy, and other will say that it makes no difference.

After all if length made no difference wouldn't everyone pay with a 10"/8" barrel allowing them to play much tighter?

Does anyone actually have a mechanism for barrel length improving accuracy, it kinda seems inuitive, but thinking about it I'm not sure why (maybe its like a lot of physics, it sounds obvious and simple so its wrong).

Anyone know?

I guess people swear by them as thats what they find they can aim with best.

Accuracy wise its all down to paint barrel match, it'll take a hell of a lot to convince me otherwise! same goes for the old 'x' marker is more accurate then 'y' marker, its all rubbish!

Accuracy

Paul,

I have always believed that the Cocker was (potentialy, all other things being equal) the most accurate marker due to the way it was designed, providing a more consistent range than any other (often compared to the Angel), with the advantage of other markers e.g. electos having a rate of fire advantage. Otherwise why aren't we all using electros which can produce the greatest r.o.f?

Anyway, does anyone (partcularly in the 18"er camp) know if there is a mechanism for accuracy increasing with barrel length?

Is there any physical research into this stuff?

Cheers

Richard

The only way to make a barrel any more accurate than the shooter is having the bore being as smooth as possible without any fluxuations. Other than that it is who is shooting and how steady their hand is. Also if you play with a stock barrel and learn how to shoot with it you are only as good as you teach yourself. That's my opinion! I am now using a freak but used a stock infinity barrel for a long time with no problems once I figured it out! :D

Accuracy is achieved by consistency, which is what I get with my freak barrel on my angel +/- 2 fps over a chrono!

barrel length

This topic was discussed at some length on the Fight Club/Deep Blue forum on automag.com - and those people impress me with their knowledge. I would think, from a physics standpoint, that a longer barrel might be less accurate since it will result in more drag, thus requiring more pressure (cranking up that velocity adjuster a little) to get the ball going at the desired velocity.

As to why everyone doesn't use a shorter barrel - it's all in the mind. True, some people are more comfortable (and therefore more accurate) with a longer barrel because of how they sight down the barrel. I think the predominant reason for choosing longer barrels is that "bigger is better" mentality. I've recently switched from a 13.5" to a 10.75" and have noticed an improvement in accuracy. I've also been playing up front and have felt more free without a longer barrel to swing around.

barrel length

well the barrel length i've heard doesnt matter except the first 8 inches where the ball pics up velocity because a longer barrel only make it easier to aim your shot if you use the end of your barrel i think its called sighting the target

its the first 6 inches

its actually the first 6 inches that matter. what you want is for the ball to hopefully roll down the 6 inches, and then stop. then itll be very accurate. i use the 14 inch freak on my free flow, and i mainly play front, but i play back some too...great barrel, anything above 14 inches is definitly a waist...i know someone with a 16 inch freak and a free flow as well, and mine sometimes gets even more distance and accuracy, so jus use the 14......

really?

i know what you mean cuz like my friend has an 18 dye boomstick and i have a 14 dye xcel he has a shutter whith a nitro system and i have a tl plus with just a regular co2 tank and my gun is more accurate than his or it could just be the fact im a better shot. also i played him 1on1 i play front and well i got into his range or just alittle back behind something like that he pops up and trys to shoot me the balls roll ot my feat i shot like 5 times and all 5 hit him too. length has nothing to do with it i think its how well you maintain your gun your air system your guns capabilitys and how well you've gotten used to how it shoots
