Whoa there sonny - what I actually said was:

From my POV I think that Nazi thing is more damaging, but I can see that some Rec ballers will just say "Oh, it's roleplaying, it's harmless"
And that was in response to TJ's thing about a pic of a scenario game.

And as the guy was at the game, wasn't lynched, talked about or made an example of - exactly as Tyger said there are people who (for reasons only known to themselves) tolerate this sh*t.

I'm with you all the way on the negative side of it - I don't think it's a good idea. But the fact that the boards I've been to haven't seen a single post about
"I was at a scenario game, a guy had an SS uniform on and I think that's out of order - discuss"
but they have got threads like
"WORLD CUP news! Avalanche caught cheating!"
seems to me that one is being taken as more serious that the other. When I think it isn't in teh grand scheme of things.

Well I'm sure we all post stuff that didn't type the way we intended. I'm with Beaker on the fact that he isn't ragging on recballers :)

Point taken though - the Salm incident was blown way out of proportion - but it's a clarion call that things need to get sorted out in tourney ball before it can lay claim to the prize of being the popular face of paintball, but this is nothing that people didn't know already with facilities, marshalling, spectators etc. It is encouraging that there are plenty people on these boards busting their gets to improve things.

You're getting all 'touchy-feely' on me here, you're freakng me out....

IMHO, the Salm incident wasn't exposed ENOUGH. The NPPL / PSP / whatever acronim you've got needs to do is hammer down SO SEVERELY on players and teams that the bennefit to risk ratio gets put where it needs to be. High risk to low bennefit. Players cheat when the risk is low, and the bennefit is high.

Oh, and on another note, I talked to Ivan who designed the "Foxwood" camo. He told me it's based on the SS design. This doesn't bother me, becasue it's not a direct copy of the uniform, AND it's only based ont eh pattern. Now if the "SS" symbol was worked into it, then you have something to answer to.

Oh, and Ivan can't believe that "Harelquin" is still a live team in the UK... That freaked him out.

Anyhow, back to topic, if paintball is to grow, there needs to be a publicly available and agreed upon plan. If we ALL had a goal to work twords (a standard league, standard rules, hell a standard anything...) then we can actually, GASP AND PERISH THE THOUGHT, work together for that goal as paintball players, not as a clique or a label of convinence.

(Is that touchy-feely enough for ya, TJ?)

Pete Rose gambled on baseball while he was managing. Despite a career that was groudbreaking and spectacular, he's not in the hall of fame. And, if DSelig has his way, he never will be.

Point being that there are FAR, FAR worse things than a year ban from playing the NPPL, they let him off light.

Tyger - spill it, what exactly could they have done?

Until we have one single organnisation at the top of the sport they did all they could.

Could they have fined the team - no, there is no rules that enable them too
Could they have banned him for life - no real difference as a year is a very long time in Pro painball
Could they have banned him from paintball - they have no juristiction over anything else but NPPL/PSP

I fail to see exactly what they could have done differently?

Well, lemme go check the NPPL rules.

rule 12.57 does include banning for life. Any player caught setting scores will be banned for life, as will all members of his team. Depending on how you look at it, this COULD be that if you tweak it hard.

12.56 has the same penalty if you intentionally give up points to an opponent. Not really the same, true.

but 13.13 is the president. Any team that does not adjere to the rules set up by the promoter must pay a $250 fine to the promoter. There's president to fine based on that. Now there's no breakdown of what fines will be, but there IS a rule about fining players / teams, and therefore it's not without reason.

As to how far they could have gone? Well, 'Lanche is still allowed to play in the NPPL, aren't they?
