Hang on a minute, WTF.......
No slagging off here at all :); I'm impressed, the 1 should see angels come back into fashion in a way that the Fly etc, didn't.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want one :(. I'll get a 2nd hand one eventually :(.
Need any reviewers, PGI? :)

they're always tech friendly, one of the Angels best features.
Well duhh :). Yeah they're really tech friendly. -None of this ego lpr shim-greasing-taking apart nonsense :D. I only took the backplate off my angel for the first time in 2 years; and that was only for a look, and to attempt to take the ram out to fit a new kit in it (evolve).
All you ever need to do is clean the breech; maybe clean the eyes and on rare occasions put some lube on the hammer etc. Aside from that; nothing :).
It appears they're also including an angel toolkit with it as well which will make a change :).

I'm impressed most of all that they've listened to people about what changes people wanted- and the feedneck and asa, not to mention the barrel kit, are a product of that :). AS WELL as the general performance improvements.

And moaning, in a way can improve the end product- however we also have to appreciate how far both Planet & WDP have come & that they are major players in the world market thing, which is pretty cool :).

For some reason i can't see the Etek picking up too much popularity, it's in competition with its second hand bigger brothers which are only slightly technically inferior, but still LOOK more impressive than the etek.

Im sure the shock marketing employed was at a deliberate contrast to the angel1's long (albeit longer than intended) rumour mill, which worked well because they stole some of the attention, and I'm not bothered because anyone who was going to buy a One will probably still buy it for it's superior features, and the people who were going to hold out for good price on a second hand One may just buy the etek. This results in both (great) UK companies getting a fair share of a tasty pie, though we'll see what happens next, it could be a bit like the generation game - will WDP's next marker be higher or lower, or will they just improve the existing model with different styles and team editions (this reporter thinks so.)

Tom - im with you, when was the last time you heard someone in the UK randomly say something patriotic or do much more than support the football team? There's not much to go around from the average person, and it doesn't help that if you own an ego you more than likely hate angels or vice versa (nah, us angel folks are kind and understanding aren't we?) ;)

Rosie - after reading this forum, and then reading the 'what would you lke to see' forum on angelowners, it seems like the improvements suggested have taken a high priority at the design stages of the 1, check it out, the only suggestion that wasn't followed has to be for the two tube angel - weird eh?

I think the 2tube would take away their individuality anyways...I like it as it is now :), despite having a bit of an ooooh noo it's still 3 tubes :(, moment initially

I'd like to see a zoom-able picture 'cause I want to see what the back looks like. Some funny lines going on at the back there?

Angels are more friendly for people who cant tech admitedly, they go for the use bomb proof everlasting grease method so you never have to open it up. The use of oil on a ram like with the ego makes for more consistent and efficient ram operation but requires more regular maintainence. The ego is just a slightly finer tuned machine  it doesnt make the angel more tech friendly because you never have to do anything with it, scissors are more reliable and require less maintainence than a lawnmower but you wouldnt cut the grass with them.

Not owned an Angel then huh? ;) The build quality is 2nd to none and the overall performance of an Angel is easily comparable to an Ego, remember they have been doing it a lot longer than most :D

I agree with Rosie that the A1 might, with any luck, bring Angels back into fashion. Egos are trendy at the min, just as Shockers were before them.
The Ego is un-arguably an amazing marker and I look forward to owning one, not just nicking my bro's.
I think the ETek will help planet sponsor more teams, like the Ion did for SP, so more people will become accustomed to shooting an Ego and probably want to upgrade to the "proper" one, very much the same as the Proto.
I think we'll see a new range of ETek gear, pants, tops etc and eventually distinguish between the 2 brands just like Dye and Proto.

Either way I look forward to the American brands trying to keep up with the Brits :D SP and Dye both seem a little stagnant lately :D

by losing the rechargable battery, WDP have been able (for the first time) to push the envelope of the 3 tube design and get the most out of it. A 2 tube design would have been a Timmy, or an Ego.
By keeping the 3 tubes, and the swing-out breech, WDP are able to get more performance out of the gun than if they had switched to 2 tubes. The gun can be a lot shorter/thinner/lower, and also contain bigger gas galleries, reducing pressures, and storing 3-4 shots of gas, meaning recharge levels from the tank/minireg are not affecting shot to shot consistency.

The decision to stay with a 3 tube design was most definitely to improve performance. It was a close call in the end, but I know now they have seen the finished product everyone at WDP is glad the 3 tubes were kept.
Yet another 2 tube Angel-engine would have crowded the market, and the extra tube has been utilised to deliver what the players were asking for, a more compact gun that is very light on paint, without sacrificing the Angels ROF advantage.

I just hope Rosie gets to shoot one.

Here, here...

And if it had ended up being 2 tube then the responses would have been 'oh it's just another bushmaster/impulse/timmy/ego clone'

I still wanna see the back of the grip and the display in action....
