People - the etek is not an ego.
Wrong Mario

The ETek Ego is a completely new Ego designed from the ground up. Although some of the parts are interchangeable with the Eclipse Ego, such as eye covers, LPR cap, Feed Tube etc the majority of the internals, frame, trigger and body are not. They have been designed with simplicity and durability in mind, yet also keep the same high performance expected from an Eclipse Family product.......
You going to argue that point with Planet then m8

Its two different marketing strategies and that is all it is. WDP went for the all out teaser styling marketing and planet went for shock tactics. Thats all it is.
Planet always use teaser style marketing - how many people on the eclipse mailing list thought the advert sent them earlier this month was for a new ego frame not a whole marker

Why is it that wdp spend months and months pretending to bring out a new marker (Teasing people with release information and pretend photo's).........
WDP did not spend months and months pretending
Everyone knows that the G7 had done a year and it was due for update or replacement, just no one knew which it would be.
When WDP were ready they realised little bits of info to get peoples attention. Standard marketing ploy, I believe.

.........and Eclipse bring out a new marker without hardley anyone knowing they were going to release a new marker (well I didn't anyway).
Maybe you should sign up to Planet Eclipse's mailing list and you will see how good they are at marketing. As I said earlier their marketing was so good most people initially thought it was a new grip frame - no one could even tell whether it was superseding the star frame or was a budget model
Interestingly
Planet now have a top line (eclipse ego), a budget model (etek ego), and a signature range (Nexus/XSV- etc) just like WDP (G7, Speed & G7 Fly, respectively) had last year, which a lot of people complained about.
Plus thinking about the Angel One, where does it stand in the new WDP marker line up, people on here are talking about it as being WDP's new budget marker. What if it's their top end marker then we would have a new budget and signature range models to come.
100% behind British Paintball whether its WDP or Planet Eclipse - competition is good, keeps you striving to get better
