Why is it that wdp spend months and months pretending to bring out a new marker (Teasing people with release information and pretend photo's) and Eclipse bring out a new marker without hardley anyone knowing they were going to release a new marker (well I didn't anyway).

Well done Eclipse!

Its unsurprising that WDP are suffering with a downturn in sales.

Are for forgetting the other difference between the two markers: £200?

I dont get why people rag on WDP so much? We're fortunate to have 2 cutting edge gun manufacturers here in the UK yet the Ego can do no wrong it seems (nobody makes as big an issue about the kick and noise as they do to the Angel's faults). I'm sure the tables will turn someday, but I just laugh at the closed mindedness of some ballers.

So technically it's not an Eclipse marker, but an ETek one.
what?

Its is a different gun ben. There's no internal interchangeable parts (as far as im aware, i haven't bothered reading specs etc)with the ego etc. The g7 and speed 06 are essentially the same gun. Most of the parts can be swapped between the two.

but i see your point my friend. :)

The CCU feedneck etc are interchangeable, and one or 2 other bits.
I'm only quoting what I read off planet's site :D
They call in a ETek Ego and compare it to the Eclipse Ego.
So it's an Ego, just not an eclipse one. Wonder if it's made by SP :D

People - the etek is not an ego.
Wrong Mario

Planet Eclipse Website said:
The ETek Ego is a completely new Ego designed from the ground up. Although some of the parts are interchangeable with the Eclipse Ego, such as eye covers, LPR cap, Feed Tube etc the majority of the internals, frame, trigger and body are not. They have been designed with simplicity and durability in mind, yet also keep the same high performance expected from an Eclipse Family product.......
You going to argue that point with Planet then m8

Oops did you say that? :D :D : D

Its two different marketing strategies and that is all it is. WDP went for the all out teaser styling marketing and planet went for shock tactics. Thats all it is.

Planet always use teaser style marketing - how many people on the eclipse mailing list thought the advert sent them earlier this month was for a new ego frame not a whole marker ;)

WDP did not spend months and months pretending
Everyone knows that the G7 had done a year and it was due for update or replacement, just no one knew which it would be.
When WDP were ready they realised little bits of info to get peoples attention. Standard marketing ploy, I believe.

Maybe you should sign up to Planet Eclipse's mailing list and you will see how good they are at marketing. As I said earlier their marketing was so good most people initially thought it was a new grip frame - no one could even tell whether it was superseding the star frame or was a budget model

Interestingly
Planet now have a top line (eclipse ego), a budget model (etek ego), and a signature range (Nexus/XSV- etc) just like WDP (G7, Speed & G7 Fly, respectively) had last year, which a lot of people complained about.
Plus thinking about the Angel One, where does it stand in the new WDP marker line up, people on here are talking about it as being WDP's new budget marker. What if it's their top end marker then we would have a new budget and signature range models to come.

100% behind British Paintball whether its WDP or Planet Eclipse - competition is good, keeps you striving to get better

I was just thinking the same thing! It's almost reminiscent of Planets move from Eclipse cockers to the Ego!

I stand corrected. Im just bored at everyone moaning about the resale value of their egos going down ;)

cheers DW :)
End of the day both Planet and WDP have to react to market forces and at the same time need to make money.
Maybe people should think about how much the computer they bought for £1000 in 2004 is worth now :D

That's true, but computers double in power every year, markers don't ;)

True but ballers doubel there moaning about stuff each year too …

Or is it that the internet has opened this fact up because it is now affordable for people to site at home on the PC now days and bitch over stuff between games…

Go on any forum and you will find the bitching, this car is better than that... This golf club works better than that.

Some purchase the Planet markers because they like them, others WDP markers and so on. You pay your money you make your choice, the only one who gives a dam is YOU. After parting with your cash you have to live with it, paint ball markers will always depreciate in value fast.

Who gives a dam really…. Just go out and use your chosen marker…
