I hear you Ben

After starting this thread, I can see Ben isnt getting his point across:

Basically, to have a marker that is tweaked, build by einstein, using all the best bits of the stock marker is fine

BUT.......

Using any third party component that is not in the stock model to make it perform better, (therefore manufacturing a different marker), such as totally different bolt and so on, is just not cricket.

Becuase your then Shocker built exceptionally well turns into a Shocker +1, and its the +1 bit thats not fair.... not saying they do this of course.

Surely the NPPL checks the markers

Aten, sorry, no don't mean that.

Different bolts, different barrels, different grip frame - don't have a problem with that either. It's just different, still within the rules

I just mean cheats e.g. ramping boards, velocity/BPS cheats etc. Stuff that would be deemed a true 'cheat'

I had a chat with Russel (the rule book) Smith the other day (great bloke), and some ideas i could think of, just off the top of my head, he had also thought of, and was actively looking at.

Five years ago we new nothing about dwell, and would be oblivious to the fact that if you increase dwell you increase fps. Within the small frame of the shocker, there may not be a lot of room for major mechanical differences, but the electronics on the board, are another matter. SP produce the software for the boards, just as every manufacturer does, and theoretically could include anything they wish, to enhance the operation of the marker. There was a thread the other week about boards having cheats found on them, it's not difficult to do.

Tom and a few others,

Do you have any evidence of either Dynasty or SP directly developing gun cheats for the Shocker? or is it the usual bash SP / SP Teams hysteria? Your implying that SP's business practices predispose them to introducing designer gun cheats, do you have any evidence to support said claims? Seen any Black Helicopters landing at the Gardner Ranch recently? I know at the last monthly Knights Templar get together, Ryan, Skinny K etc were notably absent, and we had some lovely goats to sacrifice.
Bogeyman accusations are getting tiresome, the Shockers Dynasty shoot are Master Tech'd, they probably do get the new parts such efficiency kits or LPRs, these are NOT cheats but performance upgrades inside the rules. If it make the gun shoot more consistently or with increased air efficiency, it isn't outside the rules. It may well be that these upgrades are not yet publicly available or even cost prohibitive, but if the gun does not fire more than one ball per trigger switch activation or ramp velocity it is (sadly for you), very much legal. Hey maybe the Shockers even fall apart after one tourney, or last a fraction of the time of other guns, however this is still not the basis to make cheat accusations.

Perhaps the simple fact is a well set-up Shocker is comparable with other top end guns / gun manufacturers? Posting emotive gun crap is one thing, but cheat accusations, or running products down simply because you work for a different company or even don't like the so called "nefarious" business practices of another company (I mean do you or 99.9% of posters here even know the full inside "skinny" of the whole patent shizzle anyway or is it just heresy?).

Oh and what exactly does this mean "I had a chat with Russell (the rule book) Smith the other day (great bloke), and some ideas I could think of, just off the top of my head, he had also thought of, and was actively looking at.". What no more after market parts for guns? No more Efficiency kits? Or are you and "The rulebook" planning on banning anything SP produce?, what about Timmies, or Dm4s or even Samurai triggers on Cockers? Can you enlighten us further here?

Gun cheats are gun cheats and should be dealt with in a severe manner, and if a certain gun can be proved to be Illegal then should be banned plus possibly the player, but Internet heresy (often with ulterior motives), or baseless accusations of cheating are not acceptable. If gun doesn't go over 300+ fps or shoot more than 1 ball per pull/ switch activation, then it's legal, congrats to the player for having either the time, money and effort for setting up his gun that way or being so good he qualifies the tech support to do it for him.

There is a lot of nepotism in paintball, but get Real specific examples because without real evidence it just adds to the never ending pile of BS that gets posted on the internet.

Lots of love and kisses, although apologies if sounds a bit strong.....

Glen

P.S learn to name drop better.

I think the quality of paint would be the biggest factor besides playing ability.

Dynasty are shooting their own brand of paint (i tihnk) I would imagine the stuff they get is hand picked and fresh from the factory.

The shockers will also be better than the rubbish we mere mortals can buy, but compared to the paint I dont think it will make alot of difference.

A well set up shocker will rip like any other well set up gun, full stop.
With a few upgrades they are also as if not more efficient then alot of guns out there.
I don't agree that DYnasty would have any cheats on their guns;

a) I don't believe they need 'em.
b) I don't believe they'd risk their reputation on it.
