If someone was on the more well known 'high' drugs to enhance their performance then they would need to be on a lot over a very long time to have an effect, just think about how long our tournaments are! Nearly 3 days. That would have to be one heck of a fix wouldn't it? (I don't know I' m fairly innocent when it commes to drugs).

I think there are much bigger issues to do with 'performance enhancement' and 'competitive advantage' that we need to fix in this sport before we can even begin to think about the use of drugs as a problem.

The use of drugs is common within 'extreme sports'. Adrenalin is just another form of high.

p.s. Rancid, I don't think they tried very hard to ban me. I got back in, in order to put a sensible stop to what had been going on and to make an apology to RL. In all my many years of posting on the net I've been edited twice in seriousness (to remove swearwords when I didn't know they were not allowed) Edited once so that someone could win an arguement purely by changing my post  and now banned once :( . Not that bad for 6 years of posting on the net... I, like Pete, do not think this was a serious question (I also think it was an attack on him) but it is one worth talking about in other contexts.

Sorry robbo if u feel this was directed at you.
It wasnt.
I was reading through the post about gun rules etc at like 3am when i couldnt sleep and it got me to thinking, Just how serious are we gonna take the rules.
I personally believe that if we adopt similar rules it would show us as a true "sport"
I am not talking about the near future, just a point to be considered along with everything else.

As for the steroids point, It was all that came to mind at 3am what with the recent olympic hoo ha.

I know you have a problem with us at Apocalypse, Thats fine with me and at times enjoy our little arguments. But as far as i am concerened that it, Stuff to talk about on the forum, Not to be carried around as a grudge.

Are you gonna take any comment i post again personally Robbo? Please dont as they arent meant to be. I aint that intrested as you well know. And as for the no body comment, HAHA.

Im well known enough and that suits me fine, I dont need to have a go at you to get myself noticed. As those that know me, I am VERY noticable :D

So lets just pack this all in and go get drunk some time, Hell if you still wanna fight after im up for anything ;) Just dont let Death near us with the Baby oil :)

Drug Tesing, Steroids, and a few other points.

This is a serious post, so no BS here. I'll save hat for another post of pure BS.

First of all, "Steroids" is a generic term. What is banned specificlaly is a form called "Anabolic" stereoids. My MOM was taking steroids for inflamation, I don't think it was a performance enhancement. Just "Stereoids" isn't banned, specific types are.

Now about drugs and sports. I took the tim eto hit up the World Anti-Doping Agency as well as the official olympics web page. (Why there? Because that's international stuff) If you want to see a list of the current banned substances, click here for it from WADA. Need Acrobat reader, but it's there.

So why do I bring that into the fray? Well, if we're going to follow a form, there is it woul dbe. Notice that they have a rather laxed view twords drugs like marijuana. There are also uses defined for drugs normally used for asthma and the like. I'll post more later, My computer is crashing.

Thankyou tyger....
Also found this site useful.

Drug stuff in sport

"Not surprisingly, athletes favor performance-enhancing drugs. Steroids are by far the most abused drug in sports, but considerable numbers of athletes abuse many other substances as well, such as alcohol and cocaine." ~ quote.

There needs to be a distinct line made here of the diffrence between a performanc eenhancing drug AND a supplement. It's no secret that many baseball players use muscle building suppliments to crush baseballs out of the park. Many supplemnts are LEGAL.

Also, just while doing research, I found this too.

http://olympics.org/uk/sports/recognized/index_uk.asp
Recognition of the International Federations (IFs)

In order to be recognised, these organisations must apply the Olympic
Movement Anti-Doping Code and conduct effective out-of-competition
tests in accordance with the established rules. The recognition of IFs newly
recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) shall be
provisional for a period of two years or any other period fixed by the IOC
Executive Board. At the end of such period, the recognition shall
automatically lapse in the absence of definitive confirmation given in
writing by the IOC.
What this means, if I read it correctly, is that paintball may never be recognised as an olympic sport until we start testing. Talk about a shakedown, eh?

Question now is what kinds of drug use, if any, is in paintball? I don't think paintball has gotten that savvy yet. It probably won't until we get some big money events in paintball. (I'm talking "Tour de France" money here...)

But, again, let me make something clear here. Steroids is ot a sungular term for one drug, it's a family of drugs. One small section is what we all think of when we talk about stereoid use in sports.

Ohhh man. do you know how much three days worth of coke to last ALL day would cost? I don't know specifically, but I bet it would be alot. What I do know is that I think it is rediculous to smoke the ganja and try and play paintball. It dulls the edges. You become slow and lethargic. I prefer the adrenaline thank you. ALso, the posts on waiting on drug testing because piantball is hardly a full fledged recognized sport is right on.

VW's are the game
Rancid made a valid point... Do they test Skateboarders, Snowboarders, Surfers or BMXers? Well being a member of the California Amature Skateboard League few years back. Competing at a Shop sponsored level I can say NO. But I have witnessed 1st hand some PRO Skaters indulging in Cocaine.

But like manike2 said we are getting the best drug in the world for free!!!! ADRENALINE!!!:D So why would you need anything thing else???
