Answer -because his arse fits it !
If a drop suits and fits you then use it, if it doesn't or your a "pro", then don't use one,..........it's not hard !
It's whatever "you" need to get the best performance from "yourself" and "your equipment", just because "no drop" is the pro choice does that mean it has to be the choice for everyone?
Nah i didn't think so either.
Diablo, the essence of what you say is almost a cliché in that a lot of people can say it, and under a lot of circumstances it could be true, but not this one I'm afraid.
There is a requirement (or should be) in paintball to play tight and shoot accurately, that's a given...if you question this then the whole stack of paintball cards comes crashing down.
That said, the human body has general limitations in that the vast majority have quite limited variances.
I mean, we don't have people with arms one foot long and others 6 foot long and so we can look at this whole issue of shooting your marker with an extremely wide catchment.
People shoot more accurately when the marker is placed in front of them and the nearer the working eye line the better.
The extension of that forwardness (for want of a better word) also has limitations, if it goes too far away from your body then you run the risk compromising your tightness (for want of a better word) and if you bring it up too close to your body and there is no real forward extension then you compromise your accuracy.
And so there is a happy medium to be struck here and that happy medium is generally indicated by what 'feels' most comfortable.
Of course there are some people out there who may well feel that a drop forward is more comfortable because they have some genetic mal-expression of some posture gene going on but this is where common sense has to come into play because in this case, you cannot compromise effectiveness because of comfort.
Forget looking cool, forget any fads, just rely on some common sense and if you need to work it out for yourself just do the following exercise, stand there with your marker, push it as far away from you as possible and practice shooting.
try to work out what limitations are then working against you.
Do the same with your marker tucked up under your chin like some drop forwards have you do and repeat the self-examination.
You should easily work out that somewhere in between those two extremes is the optimum set up and generally speaking the one in between that's most comfortable is where it's at.
