well

Jersey is a part of.... Jersey

suppose you could group it in the channel islands but it has its own laws (paintball markers, class 1 firearms) and its own currency.

I'd love to give you good news buddy, but i've got a lovely SCI dot tank sitting at home, un loved and unused!.

HSE and DOT are, if my reading of the HSE website is correct, tests on the manufacturing processes, and require something like 30 or 50 bottles to be sent to the relevant agencies for "Thourough" testing. i.e. they get blown up, cut up, crushed, imploded etc. you get the idea.

Your best bet is to cancel your tank, like yesterday, and buy one here. Anyone else know any different? Please, i'd like to use my other tank! :)

p.s. Many of the DOT standards are used in this country, up to about 125 bar. In fact many site the American regulations as sources, and state they are acceptable in the UK.DOT-E (sorry, forgot the numbers) is not, however, and this is the one pertaining to high pressure, portable, fibre wrapped tanks!

re dot tanks

Dont get a DOT tank if you want to use it in the UK or Europe and fill from a commercial source, there not legal to sell in UK and cannot be re tested for use in UK

DOT is the european standard, however the HSE doesn't recognise the DOT standard so they cannot be comercially filled in the UK, or tested.
The EU standard should rectify this problem. Only tanks manufacturered in a way that meets the EU criteria will be EU approved. No tanks may be retro approved, once Dot always Dot, once HSE, always HSE as far as I know. reading the standards is a mind F***. Trust me, just buy an HSE tank.

We'll I'll throw the cat amongst the pidgeons a bit.

I think I am right in saying that by the end of June/July, the DOT bottle will be illegal in Europe. The only legal bottles will be CE stamped bottles. This then happens in the UK next year when the HSE will become illegal and only CE stamped bottles will be allowed.

So the DOT/HSE argument is really going to be a bit out of date, as well as any bottle that you have that you want to use in Europe or the UK next year.

So the solution is to forget buying ANY Hse or Dot bottle from now on and only go for CE stamped bottles.
