You cant tell me there is anything wrong with using a Fibre wrapped bottle which has both DOT testing requirements and HSE testing requirements printed on it,

If your in the uk you follow the HSE specs and if not you follow the DOT spec, I should imagine its to cut costs imagine if the manufacture had to make to sets of tanks and the only diffrence being the wrighting on them it would costs a packed to alter everything its easier / cheaper to make one bottle and have both specs printed on them.

Ok gotta but in!!

After speaking to my local Dive shop on the subject they told me they can fill & test anything DOT or HSE that has CE stamped on it. And I think your'll find that its 2xHSE & 1.5xDOT as british standards will blow the crap out of a US bottle. The moral of the story is BUY BRITISH. (Unless it's a Rover)

Erm, the DOT test is to a higher pressure than the hse one - even though the HSE bottle is reqired to have more wraps of fibre

And as for buying british, why even include rover in that statement, they've not been british for donkeys years! :p :D

Fill me in :)
Have a search through the forums for lots of threads on this subject, but basically DOT is a US standard & HSE a UK standard. For actual difference, see Hotpoint's post earlier in this thread  . For the legal difference, read back through this whole thread which sums it all up.

Im suprised Russell, Bully, or Blakey havent posted explaing that its Illegal to USE Dot bottles in any of there tournaments.
Cause thats originally what they told everyone, H-PAC are saying you can fill your own bottles. But can we actually use them???

Mods, mods where are you ??

Is it not about time that we had a sticky on the tourney and techroom threads explaining the low down on DOT tanks etc, I'm sure Hotpoint would be willing to contribute so he did not have to reply to 14 threads a week ! :D
