coke is about as bad as you can get........ full of crap, including caffeine.

Just drink lots of water....... it's the best thing for hydration (clues in the name)..... and face it, paintball isn't like other sports, you get to sit down every ten minutes and have a drink (other sportsmen have to last far longer between drink/burger/toilet breaks), make sure you do and you'll be fine. Avoid tea and coffee, really avoid anything but water..... even some fruit juices have negative effects if you knock them back all day.
As for lucozade? read the ingredients...... there's not really a lot in it. Just get loads of water, anything you add to the water has to be removed by your system. Get your energy in food and it'll release over a longer time (as stated bananas are great) and hydrate with water. Other fruits don't have much energy in them e.g apples, oranges......
I buy a couple of cold pasta salads and a bag of ice the night before..... stick it in a cool bag and just eat a little after every game, chilled food and drinks all day :)

PASTA CONTAINS COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATES SO BY THE TIME YOUR BODIES DIGESTED IT AND BROKEN THE CARBOHYDRATE TO GLUCOSE YOUR NEARLY GOIN HOME AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

and as coke goes i forget that those lycra clad people that do that endurance cyclie thing think its called the "Tour de France" they drink it flat for a pick up.
