If Chris Lasoya and Avalanche are such great guys, Why were they the only team to NOT go through the two lines of cheerleaders- give a despondant speech (forgetting some of their sponsors!) - and slink off to the back again?
Personally I thought that Dynasty played real Hardball and fully deserved to win!

I Think what it is, that the yanks are domanateing at the moment, & there are a lot of people that like the under dog to win. But booing that was going on by a small number of people, was not really on.

I would also like to thank Dynasty for ripping us a new A*#hole on Friday.:D Guys when you move we certainly knew about it!!!

Like... Americans?

Um... well I think you'll find a lot of anti-american sentiment in the UK paintball scene

"I love big games in the states, mostly 'cause you get to shoot americans" quote from STB Speedball.

I have to say that a lot of the chearing during the finals was for Russian Legion, maybe becuase we believe that they should win, and they loked like they might just do it

As for Lasoya... I didn't see much of him over the weekend, I am jsut a novice and so don't see why I should, but what I did see I didn't like much. He walked away from a game between a novice team (the team I was playing for, though sitting out this game) and the Ugly Ducklings shouting abuse for the Ducklings, because we had taken them to a 1 0n 1.

Whenever I saw him eliminated, it was accompanied by a torrent of abuse. And when the MC attempted to interview him during the finals after 'Lanche had just beaten Rusian Legion after loosing to them twice over the weekend, he had nothing to say except "F***ing tirred". So he may be a fantastic talent, but he doesn't exactly come across well. Though I was a bit dissapointed that I didn't see him pull of any of his signature game breaking moves :(

Maybe I am being hyper crytical, most of the yanks I chatted to were pretty nice guys, even the other members of Avalanche who were watching the Ducklings game with Chris.

I would guess that the political situation (something that I don't think should be discussed here) has a significant bearign on the public mood at the moment. Also it is natural for the English to hate anyone who is on top, we have always had a tendancy to support the underdog in everything.

That's the way I see it anyways

I was a bit upset as in hte stands when foreign teams were introduced everyone cheered out of respect but there was a handful of french (i think ) guys next to me that boo'd.
I thought that was quite disrespectful and immature.

Maybe that's just me.
You think booing was bad  ,if you had been in Sweden you would have heard them swearing because we were cheering UK teams, of course that made us even louder and eventually all the UK attendees joined in, how loud were we??? ask Rushers and Tigers :).
I say support anyone and everyone just for playing Paintball.

Richard if that's a quote from me, then you are taking a joke WAY, WAY, WAY out of context!

I love playing paintball in the states because of all my friends there but I joke that it's the only chance I get to shoot them since they always tend to win when they come to Europe.

Ultimately I'm happy to shoot anyone :)

I support all the American teams when they come over here and have a lot of friends on such teams. Please DO NOT use quotes from me to try and make a nasty point which does not exist in me.

I was appalled at some of the booing and behaviour at Campaign towards teams from other countries and don't think it should happen. By all means support teams you like but do not put down those you wish to see lose. After all we are in this game because of a love for it.

At the last World Cup, I overheard people saying nasty stuff about the Russian Legion and booing and I had to stop and tell them how wrong they were. It was great to see that towards the end of the event the crowd was behind the RL and cheering them on!

Manike,

I doubt Richard was intentionally twisting your words. Doesn't seem to be the sort of guy to do that. If he was using your quote, maybe he didn't see the sarcastic way you meant it, or perhaps he meant it as sarcastic as you did. Don't sweat it, he's a good guy.

Anyway, I have no problem whatsoever with booing and heckling of teams. It happens in other sports, so why not here? Because we all play paintball? Gimme a break. Ever heard the abuse coming from the stands at other sports? There some colourful language going on there. It's not like paintball is a 'gentleman's sport', otherwise half of us would never be allowed on the field, so I don't see the big deal. You like one team, cheer them on. Hate another team or want them to loose? Boo them. Easy.

As far as I know about Chris it depends entirely on context. He gets so zoned in on what he's thinking about that just about anything outside of that is a distraction to him. If you see him the day before or on a day he's reffing, he's just as nice as he can be and will talk pleasantly with just about anyone. But if he's just about to walk on the field, don't count on getting more than 3 words out of him...stick around to bug him further and you'd likely end up thinking he's the biggest a-hole in the world. If he just got shot out, don't expect any pleasantries, as he's probably got that on his mind and what he wanted to do and that he didn't get to do it. Let him cool off and he's fine after a while. It's just the intensity of his personality that's at work, and that's what comes out for better or for worse.

but come on guys, what would you be like if every time you were shot out or lost a game people were laughing and chearing against you. cos thats what it is. Its less of wanting the other team to win, its wanting LaSoya and the 'lanche boys to loose...........and they are great guys if you talk to them so im just standing up for them.
