Yeah but-- look at the responses it's getting. If some of the so called smart guys in this industry weren't always reacting in flight or fight mode and were honestly prepared to deliver it would buy them a tremendous amount of goodwill and faith from the players.

Smack Talk has really gotten worse. It has no identity anymore. Their goal of being a cleaner family environment has back-fired IMO. BS still reigns supreme, it's just cleaner, and less controversial. There really is no substance, some would argue that there never was, but that was only if you weren't able to separate the wheat from the chaff so to speak. But now, no one could even debate this subject without their post disappearing, and them being banned. Before, you could still get a good idea of the prevailing winds, now the winds are variable with no discernable direction. I believe the moderators are acting as trolls of their own site at times, defending certain concepts and persons with language that normally gets deleted in other threads. Perhaps as a specific favor to some.
The constant barrage of obscenities and insults of the old ST could get annoying, but at least you knew where you stood. Now the trolls have taken a different approach; they use better grammar and spelling to get their swill past moderation.
The moderators also seem to have chosen individuals who are taboo from criticisms of any kind, again perhaps due to an arrangement. No matter what the basis or how well worded the post maybe certain subjects or persons are off limits. While other individuals seem to be fair game.

I t would appear that everybody is promising christmas is coming
but how likely is that, x number of teams, z number of dates, y
number of sponsers, no conflicting dates and everybody can make
it to every event and the sponsers and suppliers can provide goodies for everyone, NOPE- UH-UHH- NO F@#$%^g way

I'm not sure, but I think a split in the numbers could work. In other words if NPPL S7 got roughly half and PSP roughly the other half then you would have tournaments about the size of the average Millennium. Millenniums have smaller prizes but also cheaper entry fees. And we've seen that those tourneys work.

One can hope that the new NPPL has enough money to invest in a "really good show" for their inaugural event. If they do it right the first time, or at least much better than PSP, then the ball will get rolling and PSP will be forced to ante up to hang in the new ball game.

I can also tell you (from a reliable inside source) that there is a renewed commitment on the part of some significant figures to renew and substantially improve the PRO scene, and it will be made use of at NPPL S7 tourneys.

Monopolies suck. Competition rules!

Check out this financial report from 2000 World Cup. Here you can see that it costs over $300,000 to put on a major paintball tournament in a cow pasture. And I always thought that Europe was much more expensive.

Be interesting to read some analysis of this. What's Millennium's secret for pulling their tourneys off without going major into the red?
