And the one thing you have in common is knowing damn little about Xball. :p :) Though possibly slightly more than Dougal. :D
You're right Baca - I know little about Xball having never played it. Is CPL Xball in its truest form?? CPL is what I watched in Paris, and I REALLY do not see any logical argument for the continuation of sideline coaching, in terms of it assisting the development of paintball, either as a spectator sport or from a players' skills point of view.

And in spite of your clearly:p greater knowledge, you have done nothing to convince me.

Dougal:)

The format the CPL is playing is in the ballpark and sounds like the version the D2 teams play in the PSP so yes, it's Xball. From reading this thread and others it also sounds like a couple of other things are at work; the teams, by and large, don't really coach effectively yet and the partisanship of the Euro crowd is perhaps more extreme in some instances than what the NXL deals with typically. It also sounds like most Euroland players aren't yet up to speed on the pace of play potential which may dramatically impact how matches play out and as I've not seen any of the field layouts the CPL are using that is another important variable. However, as Chicago has ably pointed out none of those factors invalidate coaching.
I might also add that I haven't tried to convince you or anyone else that sideline coaching is good, bad or indifferent but when you say you have yet to see a logical argument in favor then I must suppose every time Chicago posts on the subject you are closing your eyes and sticking your fingers in your ears going nah, nah, nah, nah because he's making both a logical and I think accurate argument about coaching.

It sounds pretty similar to divisional PSP play though. There probably arn't any more partisan fans at divisional PSP/CPL matches than there are at NXL matches, it's just that there's so many OTHER people at the NXL matches that those partisian fans get drowned out.

I've seen the same thing that seems to behappening in CPL happen in PSP - thre are only 10 people watching the match, 8 of them are coaching one team, and the other 2 are just random people. This can have a big effect on the game, and is one of the reasons I think the move of the coaches away from the spectator sideline is a bad idea.

If you're going to allow spectators to talk (and at major events today, you really can't stop it), you should allow coaches on the spectator sideline. If there are a lot of fans, it's going to be so loud that the coaches won't be very effective at all, and if there are not, you need the coaches to help mitigate inequities in audience participation.

No baca I am closing neither my ears nor my eyes. I start from a different position than both you and Chicago. You are convinced about coaching and its value 'in-game' and I am not.

Whether you were trying to convince me per se or not, the point I make is that in my view no logical case has been put to me that was strong enough to sway me from my initial starting point.

So we will continue to differ and you can continue to be wrong.;)

No need for the 'apparently' Baca - surely you know for sure:p

Please do clarify how I have shown my ignorance.:)

You can't expect me to become more knowledgeable without a clearer indication of how I have been ignorant.

Then why do so many stupid people always seem so unhappy?
You'ld think they'd be a bit more cheerful........
Cliches confuse me  sometimes Missy.

For example, CAN a man with a beard tell a bare-faced lie?

By your own admission the sum of your "experience" is watching a few CPL matches. That is Xball ignorance by any sensible definition. So yes, I know for sure you really don't know what you're talking about and you aren't in any way shape or form really interested in either knowing more or reconsidering so why should I bother?
