Don't make me post the pictures of you sleeping around here! I'm NOT above that! You KNOW me better!

But, speaking of mustached men...

Now, this is a little off topic, but stuff like this is on my mind as a paintball player. And isn't that what this board, SYB, I mean, is all about? SPEAK your BRAIN? And I know it's not relating to a little white mouse neither.

You mean like my last post? :)

Actually, that happens sometimes in any newsgroup / web page forum. Personal wars get transferreed over. There's really no way to curb it, unless you delete indivisual posts or have it moderated through mailing hte mod and HE has final say. But can you imagine posting by e-mail? I'd take FOREVER!

Im with Justin & Buddha on this 1.
If the thread has been capped just be cus its not paintball related then wot the hell is a thread in speak ya brains on steve irwin (that weird ozzy wild life bloke-like Sir Richard Attenbrough on drugs) doing here why aint he capped that??????.

As Tyger sed many times threads descusions just curve to a slightly different thing due to differnt people putting their view or advice accross.

On different forums, even non paintball 1s  speak ur brains or sandbox etc means u can say or ask wot u want even if its not quite on the subject of that sport etc.

There really needs to be a definitive guide line or rules as wot is & isnt alllowed (Maybe a sticky thread or a little box with a link to them & maybe not quite relying on the mods all the time with their view of judgement which will viery from day 2 day let alone between the mods,Also how about a bit of consistancy(which may happen with a few guide lines-but lets not go OTT on this).

On the whole u mods do a good job-rather u than me.

Mother, is that you?
Hey, leave Manning alone.

Have we gotta differentiate between our Lord Owen writing crap (no offence like) and 'others' writing crap? One of the worries was that peeps will come and see such threads and feel it cliquey and, well, weird - like some special needs site?

As for hijacking threads, do we really think that x-ball is the future, or do you agree with me that it is a barrel of ****?

Not really but you were thinking I probably was responsible somehow, weren't you?
Teej, last week without your moderating influence SYB was full of goofy threads and 26 axed a few.
However, while I don't disagree in principle with Justin I would say the tendency particularly in SYB is towards chaos rather than order. One or two completely non-pb related threads on the board at one time is probably fine but the problem is when folks see a couple they tend to immediately start tossing their own trash into the forum and it's 26's job to deal with it. He dealt with it--and I'm sure he'll look this thread over and offer his view.
I would also say that sort of dialogue Justin's after and using to query 26's actions happens all the time in all the forums regardless of subject.
As to thread-jacking that strikes me as more along the lines of multiple discussions breaking out and not really a big deal (poor nettiquette perhaps)--unless policy is against thread-jacking in which case it's all Hotpoint's fault and we'll have to do something about him. :D ;)

And I'm pretty sure Jay doesn't actually do anything except add to his extravagant post count. ;)

And as for you, Rancid, I deleted one of your posts last week and I can do it again. :)

mmm

But Jay's your size, only taller, so he can do whatever he wants...

It's back to tha same thing every time: self-moderation. The odd weird thread, the odd threadjack - no worries, but if it becomes too much and appears too cliquey then it's in no-one's interests.

So in tha interests of justice, like a latter-day Solomon I decree that we cut Justin in two like tha Red-headed stepchild he is...

And Rancid's right - it ain't fair taking tha piss outta Manning, especially when nature beat us to it...

I don't mean to pick on Manning (sorry Manny), I'm just asking questions. And I don't mean it to pertain just to me but like I said, to the SYB section in general. I haven't seen a big problem of "crap" all over this board...overall I think it's been all-and-all fun. In fact, the first SYB page that comes up when you log on...how many posts on it fall into the "fun" category like the "poodle" post? I don't see many.

I honestly don't understand the "worry" you speak of. In fact I think the SYB section COUNTERS this. This is a Paintball-related site, frequented by a number of people who know each other and others who don't. Everyone won't always know what's going on with posts that people make, especially when they're related to Paintball only in a certain part of the world (the poster's). But when "fun" stuff gets posted here, it creates a dialogue between people who otherwise might not have much to say to each other. It's just my opinion. It's more or less what I think the SYB section is all about.

Lotsa love,
~J~
