there is a field about a mile from my house that a bunch of paintballers built and people meet out there everyother weekend to play. alot of the people out there swear and yell at eachother and thats going to turn away some parents with there younger children. how ever its not going to turn away most people. look at the osbornes for example they swear and stuff yet still millions of viewers tune in.

You are correct, sir, in saying that you're wrong and that I will correct you. :rolleyes: :D
It was nearly constant at Huntington but the volume most of the time was turned down instead of screamed at the top of the lungs. But the truth is, that particularly for the younger generation, it's pretty much endemic. So much a part of their regular discourse they don't really notice but other people certainly do. Judgemental *******s. :eek:

Ok.So i'll agree that if outside interest is being generated,then cursing needs to be toned down...But you said it..Chuck stressed that they keep it down and it still continued so what do you do??I rarely curse,that is until i get mugged with 8 stitched across my head..Dont know why that would do it, but it does:p

But I guess if you want it stopped it can be done..Pulling kids off the field will certainly have a dramatic effect,and sure to leave a memory lodged in thier skulls to prevent it...Believe me,a no cursing rule wouldnt put a damper on me anyhow..As long as they enforce it I have no problem with it..Now my teamate with Tourets on the other hand has gotta figure something out before Chi-town:eek:

I thought the cursing at HB was toned down from previous NPPL tourneys. Much less "Get the F--- out"s or "He's hit in the F---ing hand"s screamed across the field. Maybe it was just lower volume but I didn't notice it as much. And yes, I pulled a player for language. He sure liked that F-word :D

We have the same rules in football in the UK (the kind of football involving the foot and ball a lot, rather than armoured rugby), and it also covers fans, not that it's enforced much.

You,, yes you, seat 39,314, please leave the stadium.

Probably a lot more workable in paintball, if it was enforced strictly, at least at the level we are at now. Maybe a concerted effort from tournament organisers? Whilst crowds are small enough and close enough to the field to hear individual voices.
If your going to get penalty points for it (consistently), I bet most players could cope...... spectating players aren't allowed to shout anything and we seem to manage that pretty well.

But before that, how about adequate netting at all tournaments? if your car can take a direct hit, so can you or a three year old kid who's come to watch with Mom and Dad. (Just speaking from experience i.e. the UK, I have no idea if it's a problem at US tournaments)

Wont happen.

And in our defence, i like to see 4000-odd pball hooligans trash it out between themselves, i would really bet my money on that happening.:rolleyes:

Just look at soccer and say "We dont do that do we?"

Players need to be aware that swearing on field won't be tolerated. Make a rule, no 'obvious' swearing, give penalty points, or simply eliminate the player, and players will learn to control their language. There's no need for a player to be shouting using explicit language across the field.
Cursing under one's breath would probably be excused, but the guy screaming 'on his **cking head Judge, i shot him on the **cking Head!' so loud that he can be heard across the stadium isn't going to help the sport. A warning by the judge may be in order first, like the bonus ball rule.

If we want to clean up the sport and make it more presentable, then we need to make rules that are fair, and enforce them.

There is already a rule against swearing. Its just never enforced like alot of rules.

12.43 section 4 and 12.43 section 4

12.42. Judges will issue verbal warnings for the following infractions:
(1) first offense failure to observe a neutral call;
(2) failure to use a barrel sock;
(3) first offense abuse of calling for paintchecks;
(4) first offense on the use of inappropriate language; and
(5) first offense of a flag carrier failing to return a recaptured flag as quickly as possible to his flag station.

12.43. Judges will eliminate players for the following infractions:
(1) second offense failure to observe a neutral call;
(2) second offense abuse of calling for paintchecks;
(3) second offense on the use of inappropriate language;
(4) second offense of a flag carrier failing to return a recaptured flag as quickly as possible to his flag station;
(5) aggressive movement during a neutral call within 60 feet of neutral player;
(6) a player going out of bounds or moving the boundary tape;
(7) a player hit in an unobvious location;
(8) not having one foot inside the flag station area at the start of the game;
(9) failure to wear goggles; and
(10) checking in as a live player at the end of a game with an un-obvious hit.
