Sam, Ian wasn't arguing, he merely asked the judge a question, without attitude or tone. (Not a 1-4-1 Offence).
Strictly speaking, saying anything after you have been eliminated by the judge could constitute playing on, the rules say that you have to leave the field in silence as fast as possible by the most direct route. Not saying he was wrong, as i didnt see the game, merely that those are the rules. And how often, with all the adrenaline flowing, do players query judges decisions in a polite unaggressive tone with no attitude? Normally its "Thats not a hit, for %@{~}{? Sake! Thats spray!" rather than "My dear friend, i feel that you may be mistaken"

To which I would like to put a question to you. How many times were you 1-4-1'd for "questioning a few decisions" as mentioned within your post?.
None, but that is the fault of inconsistent judging.

Sam which schedule were you playing to?
The one that had the PA system calling us to play Sad on field 2 15 minutes after we had played them on field 2!;)

And that'll be the end of the who-shot-who/who cheated part of this thread or it's getting closed.

Searching for the pro-tour....:S
Well I can see what people are saying about field 4 marshalls being a little, well, special. But it was their field to run and the only game we played on it was well marshalled from what little I could see crammed behind a silly little cube out on the left tape.

When we were playing they did make us start with guns back, and I think only 2 players were chronied from each team.

Best field for us was probably field 1, where the marshalls were strict, fast, helpful, and given the amount of spectators around that field, were severely anti-swearing, definiately a good thing.

Although slow i think field 4 (Infiltrators) was one of the best marshalled fields. Yes they took their time to chrony everyone at first but i also found that other fields were not chronying at all just calling the team and putting a band on you, this helped the fields run a lot quicker but doesnt help with safety issues as i found out. In one game ( i wont mention field no. and cant mention team cos i cant remember) I was mugged out of the fifty I had a pot in one hand and my marker in the other a player ran past around 3 - 6 feet away and put at least three balls into me one smashed my pot into pieces, another broke all the paint in my hopper and the third has left a still sore welt around the size of a fist on my stomach. Sorry but i would rather have safety over speed anyday.

I do agree with some of Ian's points about marshalling a lot of the time it was slow but i can sympathise with sparklie making the best of what she had available.

Andy, I was also caught out with the pound a can while paying for it i thought the girl was taking the p**s. I had already been to the stand once that morning and payed half that but when they realised they were the only food & drink stand up went those prices.

Have to admit I did enjoy the tourney but i think it would take a lot to get myself and a lot of other 'northerners' back down to another event.

Just my 2p

cockers rule im not sure which marshal you are, but i did post that some of the marshals on your field were quite proffesional in thier aproach. mainly the guy with the limp and the tall guy with the dark hair from the middle. the one who tried to sort it out right at the end. cheers to those 2. (and some of other fields too.)
there were probably enough good marshals there to make up 1 maybe 2 fields.

in whole if it wasnt biast marshaling that we were recieving then many of the marshals should be ashamed at the quality of thier work.

we marshal tournements and know it is tough. especialy in the top division games.

ian - uk chameleons.
Para 1 - The guy with the limp, (assuming there was only the one !) was limping because he pulled a muscle earlyer in the day. He is a member of Zone rookies called mark who stepped in to the breach THAT MORNING as we had spare players and has only played P-Ball 5 or 6 times and only 1 tourny (rd 5). Which just proves attitude (to apply ones self) goes a long way as he has been mentioned for praise several times !!!!!

Para 2 - Ian, trust me, I can wholehartadly say it was most likely a case of POOR not BIAS marshaling ! As you may have guessed from other replys and many similar threads you would probably not have read as you had not attended the events, marshalling has been the continuing bug bear of the M25 series. The route causes and solutions are being discussed in another thread so I will leave it at that !

Para 3 - To true, and thats why so few people wish to do it !!!!

....never before have i seen such biast marshalling.
the northern teams that attended never stood a chance with southern players and friends of the marshalls being wiped down on a regular basis when playing the northern teams.
Well we had friends on 3 of the 4 fields and we were penalty pointed for overaggressive play and 1 for 1'd for playing on by friends who were marshals. (I would add that before this tourney i'm not aware of Tsunami being penalised for any offence before). Just pointing this out as obviously we are a southern team and we had friends on the fields but it didnt mean they favoured us. I dont think the marshalling was biased... in some cases it was bad but with so few teams willing to ref, what is sparklie to do?? Call the whole thing off at last minute cos she's been let down? Tsunami were up for marshalling until the slating the marshalling teams got after the Cobham leg. It made us decide not to marshal M25 until we had taken the ukpsf tourney reffing course as a team and practiced a bit beforehand. We all have site marshalling experience and marshal on a weekly basis but still felt we weren't up to M25 standards considering all the flack the refs get about their marshalling. Hopefully we'll ref a leg next season.

See the damage caused by all this flaming-one less team prepared to marshal cos of whats written on these forums! No wonder Sparklie can't find anyone to marshal!

Or a team who looked at themselves, decided that as much as they wanted to help they didn't feel they were ready, so are going to do a course so that when they do marshal, the paying customer gets what he/she wants more than anything else - good reffing.
