We had two cameraman, Mark and Chris, who worked their balls off for Nexus filming each and every Russian game at this event and all of our games..those cd's will be gone over with a fine toothcomb believe me :)
In fact, as soon as I finished hitting the send button for this post, the first cd gets plugged in and then me and a couple of the other guys, who are already on their way round to my house now are going to analyse them, time and time and time again....the work has already begun :)

A huge, huge thanks to Mark and Chris !!!
I believe that you only can/will use the films fore your own team or can you sell a copy. ;)

Nice reviev Robbo. To bad that I could not see the RL play my self.

for all who have been there it's obvious which coach you mean

If Xball is supposed to be the showcase and vehicle to draw new people to the sport of paintball
physical alterations should be a big NO !

but now it seemed that some (TonTon) players even could get away with physical reactions towards their opponents, Luckily no blows were exchanged
but grabbing someone elses marker or shoving your opponent should IMO result in severe punishment
but none of that

Wherever
Still it is no surprise TonTons could get away with that type of behaviour, them being French and the tournament being held in France and all...

it might be no surprise
but what suprised me most was that no sanctions were given when it was chrystal clear when it happenend,
especially for the people (i guess with some power) in the tower

Speaking of the tower Eddepet
u have stiff competition in making fake hornsounds for the DMA,
it seemed Steve himself has been practicing hard this weekend :D

Shoving an opponent should be a 10 minute major.

Yep Russians are reinventing the limits of paintball. As Ronnie said there was no cheating, no bonus balling just 100% clean hardcore paintball! Never seen anything like it!

And yep, I must say that, even if I'm a Tonton fan, I saw some pretty dodgy acts coming from their side! I also saw them get a couple bad decisions but who didn't (except the Russians who's game is so on the ball that the decisions are always transparent). I can't understand the kind of pressure (and pain from so many hits) the players go through during the game but still, as a professional one must know how to keep cool and not act in such a fashion as to embarass your team.

One of the saddest displays of sportsmanship I saw this week end was a Tonton player leaving the penalty box with 3 Tigers (correct me if I'm wrong) waiting for him at the exit. Noone shot him, they were just waiting for him. So the Tonton goes and starts this big drama, puts his hands up and starts cussing and shouting at the 3 Tiger players saying, "go on shoot me, come on bleep bleep shoot me". Well they should have shot that whiny *******!!!! He didn't even have the guts to fight it out!!! He just put his hands up and started his one man show! Dude if you don't like the rules, don't play the game!!!!! Anyway after a couple seconds of that guy whining the refs just pulled him out!!! WTF were the players left on the field supposed to do. Go back to their base and give him a headstart!

One thing I noticed though was the number of impacts the guys playing X-Ball had. I saw a couple guys walking around with no shirt and they were really bruised. One guy had his whole left side covered! There must have been 30 impacts if not more! Looks fine and dandy from the sideline and your like: hell I wanna do that. Then you see the guys come off the field and you realise how hard the game is....

The Russians were brilliant and were an example to us all and Sergey made a point of coming up to me after our game against them and reminding me of something he told me a year or so back, 'Pete, you cannot train for the two formats, both will suffer' and suffer we did, and everybody bore witness to what he (Sergey) has achieved with concentrating upon one format.
They were in a different class to all who were there, nobody even got close.
So with that said... is everyone apart from the Russians going to continue practicing two different formats?...

Can't wait to see how the RL stack up against teams like Dynasty and Effect, but not sure if they will come face to face until Orlando unless RL are intending to play some PSP Div 1 X-ball?
