joy played very well in the second half, but they couldn't pull it back from RL.

RL new players seem to be making a huge difference. I don't know where these guys came from, but they are awesome.

RL shooting Timmys, they just have so much fire power.
in the second half Joy's sweetspotting got better, but the guns the RL have just allowed them to walk up the field shooting and moving.

Coaching, Magued and the Russian coach were probably the two best coaches i saw all tournament. Magued in particular did a fantastic job of getting his boys into the snake, and causing maximum damage.

Overall i thought joy and RL were the two best teams there by a long shot, and i expect to seem them play in the finals again.

one thing though... Maximus got gogged by a RL player, while he was closing the last two down, and i guess he got some splatter in his eye, but proceded to take his goggles off his head, WHILE THE GAME WAS STILL IN PROGRESS!
What a ****ing idiot! Just cause you're an awesome baller dosn't mean that you can take your goggles off in the middle of a game.
And don't turn to the crowd, and wave your hand at us after you've washed your eye out with some water on the side lines, we all think you're a proper tosser for taking your goggles off, we're not going to cheer your you!

There won't be a clash between the RL & Dynasty

Hey Harry, I think we were unprepared: having only practiced once playing XBall showed, and it showed a lot.
It is a different animal that's for sure.
The Russians were brilliant and were an example to us all and Sergey made a point of coming up to me after our game against them and reminding me of something he told me a year or so back, 'Pete, you cannot train for the two formats, both will suffer' and suffer we did, and everybody bore witness to what he (Sergey) has achieved with concentrating upon one format.
They were in a different class to all who were there, nobody even got close.
As for Nexus..well, we played against Shockwave and had a real tough game against them, they came at us big time and played some real good ball but in reality neither of us played well as we both struggled to find the right approach, it's just that we happened to make less mistakes than Shockwave rather than us imposing ourselves our game on them.
We played against the Russians and went back to school, almost every game we powered into them big time but their techno /strategic supremacy showed and they convincingly beat our ass.
I felt disappointed but I did not feel bad at all, they were by far better than us in every department except aggression, but who needs agression when you can shoot as many players as they can ten seconds into the game :)
As for the Tigers game, well that's a different story, the loss to them was more heartfelt because we know what we are capable of and feel as though we didn't do ourselves justice, I take most of the responsibility for that !!
Tigers / Nexus / Shockwave games are always gonna be high octane affairs with so much domestic pride at stake, I'm not sure how we are gonna get round this and I think maybe training together could prove crucial, I'm not sure.
I spoke to Twizz and have arranged training with Shockwave, we'll see how it goes for both teams and hopefully extend it to the Tigers, stranger things have worked.

But I made sure I will have all the ammunition I need in the intervening period to Amsterdam to try to make sure I understand what went wrong.
We had two cameraman, Mark and Chris, who worked their balls off for Nexus filming each and every Russian game at this event and all of our games..those cd's will be gone over with a fine toothcomb believe me :)
In fact, as soon as I finished hitting the send button for this post, the first cd gets plugged in and then me and a couple of the other guys, who are already on their way round to my house now are going to analyse them, time and time and time again....the work has already begun :)

A huge, huge thanks to Mark and Chris !!!

Edited for the interests of World Peace

And of course the Russian Legion professional approach off field seems to be one of a kind too with having at least one coach dissecting every possible opponent's gameplans so they come to every match well prepared.

I was wondering though how come there were so few hand-signals used by the coaches, (besides the bottle in the air)
since the screaming didn't seem to help much with the French announcer blabbing his mouth during the game which might have helped the French talking players a bit.

Badda, I spoke to Sergey about his game plans when we played them and he told me, he watched every one of our break outs and changed his game plan every time (God knows how many game plans he had)
We were always one step off the pace, both on the field and off when we played against the Russkies, it felt like I was chasing rainbows.

As for the sideline coaches, I will say this much, there was one particular coach (I won't mention his name) that constantly endeavoured to influence the judges.
He constantly called for players to be eliminated, even though they weren't even shot, he found early on that if he shouted loud enough and went thru the signalling motions of a 'one for one' that he directed toward the judges, that some judges responded....these responses were wholly, on occasion, completely unjustified.
He won't be allowed to get away with that sh1t again !!!!!!

I never wanted to do the sideline coaching and we got J-Doe to do it for us, I ended up on the other side of the field (with the team) selecting game plans and players and blew three gaskets in my head believing this role to be the least stressful, hmmmmm, I think I might have to re-think that decision :)

I think as the EXL season unfolds a more sophisticated signalling system will be employed by some of the teams.
A lot more work has to be done by all of us if we have any hope of keeping up with the Russkies.
