Ben,

Yes, that's what we've been told. I've yet to see ANY proof that ramping, burst, turbo, fa, whatever ARE legal in this country. Or, infact, that the Home Office has made any official comment on it.

Until I see that, I'm erring on the side of caution. We are creating a community of 'ballers in this country that except these fire modes and NONE of us actually know where we stand with the law. To me, something's wrong with that.

If I'm wrong, can someone show me different please so we can put this damn argument to rest!

Ben

The point is that it is reasonably easy to make a paintball marker lethal. The ammunition is freely available.

Your cyanide capsules for soft air, I suspect, are not.

The lethality question is only an aspect of the feet/pounds equation; the 300fps limit is not just for goggle safety.

Paintball markers are considered to be air weapons by teh skin of their teeth, that is a fact, we can keep pushing without formal, written acceptance within the law but I suspect that we will run into soem stormy water at some point

Bullied? Not really - just 'warned off'

And thanks for uninventing him, for an alter-ego he can't half drink and hold down a job.

I think that PMI will be glad to get someone on board now that doesn't love boxes of Krispy Kremes more than boxes of widgets and headbands

Mark/Syd,

I hear what you are saying and of course appreciate the sense in your reasoning. I was just trying to get a clear answer on whether these modes are legal here or not.

It would seem that few people know, or even want to find for sure (I can understand people not wanting to rock the boat with the HO) what is legal and what isn't.

However, if we don't know for certain I think it is also wrong to say that using FA would equal time doing porridge in the UK as it seems that is far from certain, if at all probable.

There is likely to be a major announcement from the Govt within the next 6 weeks or so which will involve deacts, replica guns and airguns, whether Paintball guns get mentioned specifically is moot, but they may be caught up in any proposed new legislation.

Well Ben, sue me if you don't get banged up.

To my knowledge FA is illegal in the UK.

I'll be happy watching from the sidelines whilst people try, in the meantime my advice is to err on the side of caution and assume the worst, no-one is going to come back after NOT doing a stretch and lay the blame at my feet are they?

However, brazenly giving cart blanche to all and sundry to go NXL on everyones asses might lead to a little bit of critiscism methinks

i'm gona have to agree with the man above, i'v always known FA to be illegal in this country to, thats why i always thought it was hard to get guns with that setting in this country.

Full auto, ramping, burst mode are all in a technical grey area
because paintballs are deemed as fangible.
The day a paintball causes serious damage
is the day that we lose all shades of grey
While we play safe we are ok
When some muppet crosses the line
Then we will get a definative black & white

Pure semi only, one pull one shot, no ramping etc, then there will be no more "grey areas", lets not push the technical boundaries and give the government any reasons to penalise paintball.

That’s my two pence worth………..now I’m broke… bugger!!
