I have a feeling AGD have an ace in the hole, because they have stopped production pre-emptively, just like wgp did with the ranger. They are saying that there will still be a new marker out in 2005

Read somewhere that the fee SP is charging is 15$ per gun, thats not a very high amount, guess nobody would be complaining if your beloved Viking or whatever gonna cost you 15$ more will you??

Don't see this as a reason to stop producing guns, so must be something more to it then just the patent claim.

What SP have done is what any other company does when there product is ripped off. If anyone thinks that WDP, or VL, or B.E, or Planet or any other company wouldnt have done the same then you are incredibly niave. I someone steals your idea, and costs you money you have a right to stop them from doing that, no matter who you are.

So rather than hate SP for this, why not just stop being naive and grow up. Its business. Every company does it to secure their future.

C'mon you know better then this Sam, what about all the things that could've been patented but weren't got the growth of paintball. HPA, pin valves etc etc etc...

Not everyone in the paintball business is out to bleed it dry....

Besides, the patent isn't about ripping of a specific product... argh u know all this mate, and I'm too involved. :(

Am I right in saying that a patent can only be used to protect yourself for 10 years, at which point rival companies can produce stuff based on your patent?

I know it is in Drug companies, but what about paintball?

If this is the case then at what point was this patent considered started? when it was originally put forward? Or after they got the silly extention.

If so the first shocker came out what 5 or 6 years ago? meaning smart parts can only enforce for 4 or 5 years?

am I wrong?

If I'm right then Smart Parts will mearly delay the progress of paintball.

I just think its funny what with Smart Parts and their Bushy I mean impy and matrix, I mean shocker.....

Oh and on the boycot idea, well I'm getting rid of all my smart parts stuff. I had really good service with them and good use out of the products, but times a change... I find the smart parts stuff I own isn't good enough to compete with rival brands.

Cheers
