Ehmmm.....

....I don't understand why a bunch of European players are in here moaning about this issue?

- ONLY CE approved cylinders are LEGAL in Eurppe, and it has been like that for more than a year.... if you don't have one, you are playing illegally, and that my frieds, is entirely your own choice, and you shouldn't be criticising the MS for it... they didn't even have to inform you guys, as it is a given for any Euro baller!

As for the US teams - I agree - it's poor customer service.

Rodney - are you guys playing? - thought you were going to the PSP event??

Try to get hold of Luxfer - they may be able to help you out... I THINK they have a trade stand at the event.

I know rules are rules etc and the MS won't change this, but i'd like to see this piece of Euro legislation that says they can only legally fill pi marked bottles. The legislation in question is (TPED 1999/36/EC) and it's a damn site more complicated than they have stated ('pi only').

IMO the MS are just making it easy for themselves and the H-Pac trolley dollies (sorry girls, love you ;) ) by saying 'pi marked bottles only' because they know at a glance that all pi marked bottles will conform to the current legislation (so long as they are in test).

BUT so do lots of other baller's bottles out there...the actual criteria is the DATE the bottle was PUT INTO SERVICE and as long as it conformed to the European legislation in force at the time of putting into service (and is in test) then the bottle IS still legal.

Many air bottles used in the UK don't have the pi mark because there was a derrogation to TPED 1999/36/EC regulations which excluded cylinders made exclusively for the UK market from having to be pi marked until after 1/7/03. (Because we already had some pretty good legislation of our own at that time). So UK ballers with a bottle less than 2 years old may not have a pi mark.

The pi mark actually means the cylinder can be TRANSPORTED in mainland Europe (Hence TPED = Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive).

just my 2p's worth (although i think i deserve a couple of quid at least...;) )

So we could have a situation where a player has his bottle filled at MPANL, 2K5 or wherever, BY H-PAC, then can not get it filled a week later at an MS event, by H-PAC. Both my bottles are at least 3 years + old but have been tested BY H-PAC within the last 12 months, but as there old I assume no pi mark (Yes I know I could go and look but there under loads of crap !)

So is a h-pac test stamp an acceptable equivalent or did I waste £70 getting em tested ????

Anyone

Their statement seems quite clear, it MUST be pi marked to be filled at a MS event. Get yer permanent markers out guys ;)

I wonder if this will apply to Campaign Cup too, as it's on British soil? You might find some older bottles (1999-2003) might be pi marked but it wasn't compulsory here for bottles which were put on the UK market before 1/7/03.

I'm not sure on this but just a thought: Are any of your non-pi marked bottles marked with 'CE'? If so you could argue that CE mark proves the same as Pi as both marks show conformation to TPED 1999.

Lloyds register, who hold the TPED Directive say the following:

" The CE mark demonstrates conformity to the TPED."

and also:

"The Pi mark is the proof that an item conforms to the TPED"

Which is the same thing, n'est pas?

Maybe we should ask H-Pac...
