Desktop PCs are precisely that... for the desktop. Server architecture is a completely different game. If anybody came to me pitching to sell server space on something like that I'd throw them out the door quicker than I can shoot them in the ass with my shocker
COLO places do it for people who are on a budget - and that's what you get - a service on a budget. False economy in my opinion, and a lesson learned by paintballchannel no doubt.
Even if I was forced to use COLO services, I'd still buy a rack-mount server with all the multiple redundancy and resiliency hardware built-in. They're not that expensive, and since you're not paying for all that gamer sh!t you can spend it on proper server hardware.

BUT 'desktop' Pc's can be whatever you want them to be, my old mail server was in a similar case, but had everything i needed and worked fine....now its in my loft doin nothin since i replaced it
