Yup

I agree, like you were saying, my Halo feeds great but I think blowback semis are way more accurate than my mums dog is at playing chess.

Back to the original post, disneyland is great.

????????

Fair Point Al and Baca I do agree the guy "appears" to be tight but look at the distance from the waist up he is from the barricade, he has the "reccomended" long barrel but isn't using the so called "advantage" that this long barrel is "supposed" to give. That I suppose was the point I was trying to raise. It just seems a little of a waste of time to have a product that isn't being used to its full advantage....Ok I know that perhaps the pic was taken out of sequence and he may have been really tight during the game but it looks (to me anyhow) that this guy is well comfortable and this is how he would normally play a stand up sup-air barricade.

is cool, Mark

I understood what you were on about but was mostly being disagreeable for the heck of it. I do think tho that there is a clear difference in the lexicon of paintball definitions between playing "tight" and playing close to your prop. I always play as far off the prop as I safely can to maximize my vision. Admittedly playing in the back affords more of this luxury but the concept remains the same. As long as you are inside the widest angle from which paint can come you are tight.

My goodness! People can go about barrels!

I think that because of the huge range of markers, players, techniques, and barrels the only thing we really know is that we don't know what the best combination is.

I know back players who use 10" barrels and have seen 20odd inch monsters as well. having said that, something worth noting is that 1 10" barrel is 10" shorter than a 20" barrel and thus has 10" less range (measured from the breach). That may sound trivial, but given the choice would you rather be 10" Closer or further away from your target?

My personal experience has lead me to believe that, for me 14" is the most consistent. This derives from a days play with a Freak kit on my cocker; I played with the 12" barrel for about half the day, and then switched fronts to the 14" in my opinion my shooting improved markedly, both on the field and just standing shooting at the chrony.

But that, as I'm sure you will agree, means diddly-squat in the grand scheme of things, people will shoot what they feel most comfortable with, and even if somebody did do some tests involving clamps and targets etc I don't think everyone would be convinced.

Richard that isn't the point of this thread though it got hijacked halfway through, all the test stuff has been quoted...that isn't what this is about, reread it and perhaps you will see what I and others who replied "on topic" think. Don't start the longer is faster cos x+m / 4% = first shot on target will start again (I know the formulae is wrong and total garbage).

Off topic, sorry

Mark,

Sorry, you're right, to reply on-topic I might say that it is impossible to tell the cirumstances attached to the picture and so to know whether it clearly shows a player being unable to play tight is impossible.

Don't worry I shant start any nonsense about longer barrels meking the ball go faster, because anyone with half a brain (so it includes even me) can see that with a field limit on muzzle velocity, "Faster" is meaningless.

Richard

P.s you refer to "Test stuff" does that mean that somebody really has done a load of tests to determine whether longer=tighter grouping? If so where are the results, I am intrigued
