Are Euro teams getting better?

As a team, we practice twice a month more less (It varies on some months). Off course some of the guys complement that with regular Indoor practice.
OK, Nick - here's the deal.

These Portuguese cats come from Div II, practice only twice a month, and are 7th outta 16 Pro teams in Europe, and you claim tha gap between Europe and tha US is closing?

You.

Are.

On.

Drugs.

:p

See XSV - there's your interview sorted. Now use it wisely and get tha word out to the masses and see if you can't get a few more sponsors on board, cos y'all deserve em.

I would like to go on record and say that this is a load of bollox. Not only have I never heard that expression, but I thought it was only New Labour Politicians that took Portuguese boys home?

Get over losing in football. And afterall, you should be used to it by now. ;)

We ended up losing to France because of a blatant dive and we don't have a website about it

And as a sidenote, I don't really care much about the little Portuguese boys, I'm more of a girls guy, but whatever suits your fancy :p

My name is not Nikolai, you seem to be confused as to who I am :)

As for believing how much you practice, is equivalent to how good you are, I think YOU are on drugs :D

Anyway, I tire of this debate.... we'll see once XSV puts in their A team.... and until then - bla bla bla :)

answer this

nick you started a good debate but as usual it went off track. From my experience and talking to players on the the team I help coach the answer is no. No European team other than the Russians can compete at the finacial level.
Our team has 3 practices a month 6to7 days with at least 4 days of drills and all the players are expected to train in the gym and keep a desired level of fittness. The players are flown to practice, we have a team house and given money for meals.
The team has taken first, fourth and the last psp/nxl eight and that did not sit well with the players/coach's /or owner.
And if you are ever in PA Nick come have a look at the training facility (All American Paintball Park) and tell me were or who in Europe can build such a facility.

Listen Up little Porto, Missy Q doesn't like little boys of any nationality. I like fat bear-like men, like Baca Loco, or Giovanni, and unless you want a fore-arm smash to the neck you should be a bit more respectful. I didn't get to be the unofficial queen of Harlem by putting up with cheek like yours young man.

The reason you don't have a website about your own departure from the World Cup is because the internet is a relatively new thing in Portugal.
Face it, you are pretty much a third world country, and when you go to other countries you are amazed about the newfangled machines you see there, Atari's, Sony walkmans, Betamax video's etc. You would buy them, but unfortunately the sales counters in 1st World Europe are too high, and often the staff don't even know you are in the store, which sucks, and even worse, when they do see you, they usually think some mother somewhere has lost her freakishly hairy child, or that Peter Mandelson just got into town.

Lets see what you got Fernando....

Yeah, I've seen the pics - looks great.

Actually, you'd be surprised to find that more and more places like that are cropping up in Europe, only they are shooting Reballs - not paint (exactly because we don't have the financial support of US teams ;))

This is our local practice arena for instance: Copenhagen Reball Arena

Most serious ballers in Scandinavia play at LEAST twice per week.... many play more.

Now, obviously Reball has a few drawbacks to playing with real paint - velocity and trajectory are slightly different... but still... practicing your individual skills is just as good with Reball.

Anyway - my point is, that the financial gap, which is huge between Euro and US pro teams, is becoming less significant with the invention of Reballs, and for that reason we are seeing more and more Euro team get to a level where they have never been before.

- How do you think Joy Division got where they are? - there is a Pro team with nearly NO paint budget for training (paint manufacturers don't like to sponsor the Reball manufacturers team ;)).... so they are practicing, but they are doing it without shooting a single paintball - 4 times a week :)

People may say all they like, but Joy Division is only the start - they have been training this way the longest, of the Euro teams, so obviously they are reaping the benefits first...... I predict that in a couple of years (if that), you will see 4-5 other European Pro teams, that are just as competitive... we are already starting to see that change happen (Menace are next in line)
