that is impressive but did you hear about the canadian sniper team who notched up two consecutive headshots against the taliban/ iraqie insurgents ( can't remember which) using a barratt lite 50 cal at a staggering 2340 yards
now thats good shooting!!!
Trouble with the Barratt, is that it is too big, too loud, and the ammo is too heavy...and its ballistic co-efficient, isnt really that great.
2340 yards is about a mile and a half...a long shot...however, i doubt they were facing the same wind conditions as the 900 yard jobbie. I would say that kind of windage would probably equate to around 70 or so Minutes of angle...a massive amount of correction. Most likely, because of a cross wind, somewhere between 18 and 25 mph....an amazing shot.
The smart money for long range hard or soft targets its teh Cheytac, .408 calibre...a couple of SEAL snipers managed a 3 shot 16 inch group at around 2320 yards.
Pisses all over .50BMG from a great height
Moreover, it is actually illegal, to use the .50BMG round (that the Barratt fires) on soft targets, as it is classed as an Anti tank round, under the Geneva Convention
