My mistake....

My appologies for sucking up to the Europeans, being unpatriotic, and stating the facts. I promise that it won't happen again. :(

So an American team has won two events this year including Toulouse. But that doesn't count.

Cyclone (one of your best Am teams) blew out ugly in Vegas. But that doesn't count.

But when's the last time an Am European team won an American event? Haven't you guys been playing 7 man for years now? Shouldn't this be your format?

Trauma played a few overseas events in a format they'd never played in before. Sorry they didn't win, but they haven't been excelling in X-Ball either. See, I have excuses too.

remind me again how many of the usual cyclone players were there?

umm maybe 3 last checked that doesnt make a team!

and since when would we xpect that a team whos players consist of players who dont usually play with eachother and speak different languages (i.e finnish, english, swedish, danish) to perform on the top if they might have comm. probs?

whens the last time americans had a 7-man tourny before super-7? and when thinking of that let remind ourselves that all the top amA contenders were there then add the previously mentioned hastily gathered team and add the probability of winning and you get a figure lower then the lenght of a fleas wee-wee!

not to put you down or anything but i think you, nick and maybe all of us need a reality check big time!

Ya know, this thread isn't about determining the truth anymore; this aspect was lost long ago.
It has descended into farce with certain parties ignoring trends, ignoring experienced observers who have been both sides of the water and seen both sets play in favour of careful selection of isolated games to back up their ludicrous assertions.
The American amateurs and Pros are better, end of, maybe a bitter pill for some to swallow, but it is undeniable...except of course from those people with differing agendas which might include, over-indulgent patriotism, personal dislike, inability to admit wrong and so on.
All the time these guys wanna bullsh1t about European parity with the Americans on whatever level, is time wasted as far as I am concerned, I would rather acknowledge their ascendancy, try to recognise what makes them better and get to work in closing the gap by working on my game instead of creating a fool's paradise on here.

I don't like the American's supremacy as much as the next Euro but this does not blind me to it, it just spurs me on to do something about it rather than just 'talking' our game up on these boards instead of 'working' our game up on fields.

It is not unpatriotic to recognise other nation’s supremacy but I tell ya something, it's stupidity and sometimes bigotry to deny it.

i've just watched hunttington beach and there is a big gap between usa pro teams and europe's pro teams. now that must also fillter down to usa am and novice teams compared to our own am and novice teams.
if you put a usa novice team against a GB novice teams whos gona win. thats the gap we need to close........ if we can.

Nick was right about one thing....

There is no debating you Pete. When you claim such a high and mighty attitude towards everyone else's opinion, any comments could only be seen as
ludicrous assertions, over-indulgent patriotism, personal dislike, ignoring experienced observers, inability to admit wrong, 'talking' our game up, creating a fool's paradise, stupidity and sometimes bigotry
So what! US teams for the most part ARE better than we are. Do you really think that it's going to do anyone any good to hear it from you every time you get the opportunity to tell them? Some people, unfortunately, believe everything they read and think that every pro player out there sh!ts Tiffany cufflinks. If you want the kids in Europe to look up to the pro players here, and learn from them, when all you ever say is how much better the American teams are, don't be surprised when it doesn't happen. Do you ever see European kids lined up by the dozens to get Ugly Ducklings, or Russian Legion, or Nexus to put their autograph on a poster at a scheduled autograph session during Millennium events? Hell no! And when everyone with a voice in the media over here only talks up the American "superstars", you aren't likely to see it in the near future either. This should start with the sponsors, but you could, as a representative of the media, try hyping up the great teams over here a little more (RL excepted), because I think that we all understand just how great American teams are. Nobody is asking you to submit to their view that they're better, or even equal to the American teams, or go along with everything they say, but I think that some people might be tired of hearing that they are a virtual non-factor in the paintball equation. And I agree that most of the work that needs to be done to close the gap needs to be done of the field, and I think that everyone else knows it as well, but nobody wants to admit, or constantly have someone tell them, that someone out there is better than they are.

Well, this was probably a complete waste of time, but sh!t, I'm tired of the defeatist attitudes. Yes, it's only a paintball forum, and all of this means absolutely nothing, especially since I'm not part of the paintball "elite", but it beats sleeping.

Thank God you just wrote this, I was beginning to worry people might take you seriously !

And as for signing autographs, actually, some of the guys signed quite a few in Toulouse as well as signing even more when they go Stateside which is testament to the fact, we do not accept the way things are, we are doing something about it, not bad for a bunch of guys who have only been playing together for six months.

Who Robbo promotes has nothing to do with Nick's rambling about equality. Robbo promotes and represents his own team well. He also idolizes the Russians and recognizes that American teams are ahead of the Europan ones.

Nick's claiming that one European team gave them a good game and therefor Am equality is in sight. That's just gibberish.
