There were so many teams playing in the Novice Section last year. For instance 57% of the teams playing at Campaign Cup were Novice. The ability of those teams varied considerably from those just wanting to participate to those that were masquerading as novice and ripping the genuine novices apart!

It is evident that there are teams that want to improve by playing the series as a whole, but the problem is as they get better over the course of the series, they do not allow the teams that play just one event to get a look in. They could sit back in the overcrowded Novice Section taking all the "glory'

We thought that by splitting the teams into four levels as opposed to three would be a sensible thing to do, (Ideally with 25% playing in each section)

The Title Novice will really mean those who are playing their first or 2nd Millennium.

The AmB status for those experienced teams working their way to Am A status but with a chance of playing three days and in turn with their higher status, more chance of luring sponsors. Also AM B teams will win Prize Vouchers just like the AM A teams.

AM A should be made of last seasons higher level AM Teams and lesser Pro's
who have decided to step down.

As for the names well I am up for suggestions. Give me some feed back and we have plenty of time to change... We spent half a day at the last Millennium meeting trying to resolve this.. Without doing so.. AM B was the best we came up with. If you have a better suggestion let me know.

Hope this helps.

Wouldn't it be better to name the divisions in line with the states? ie.
Pro
Am
Novice
Rookie

Or has this changed because of the nppl/psp/whatever split.

Makes more sense to others looking in, in my opinion the whole 'A and B' thing isn't so easy to follow or parrallel to other sports.

Ice hockey, and Lacrosse both uses the the 'A' and 'B' titles, they're pretty legitimate sports and no one has any problems with the division names.

Because of outside perception and understanding.

If things are changing anyway lets try and change them in the best way possible for all reasons. Not just for us players but those who may start to watch the sport and the media and sponsors etc.

More important than the name...

Is the prize/entry fee structure.

Cut prizes in the Novice division and see how quickly those masquerading teams move up to Am.

My big suggestion: No prizes for the lowest division, or limit the prizes to entry to the next tournament.

Makes no difference. If teams want to sandbag it they will stay where they can win.

With the changes thse teams will not be able to languish in the "easy" league.

We will reward the Novices, but obviously at a far lesser extent to those further up the scale.
