Am A vs Am B in the MS?

rancid

Mother, is that you?

As for how many pro teams lost to am teams?
Quite a few I think but the vast majority were won.

So, where do we stop? (Not you Robbo, bugger off and let someone else have a go.) The first few posts on this thread where about Ams getting no benefit from being hammered by Dynasty in 10 seconds. When we actually take the top say nine out, we see that quite a few ams got results against 'big teams'. So, what happens in the pro vs pro setup? Where you can drive a bus thru the gaps between some pro teams?

There will always be varying degrees of ability between the pros, nobody forces these teams to play pro much the same as nobody forces teams to stay am, we choose what we choose.

The important thing as far as I am concerned is that when we pay to enter a tournament, things are fair for all of us from the beginning.

I think the am a / am b / novice divisions are an artifical distinction to enable more teams to have a chance of actually winning something, much like the divsions in a football league, I got no problem with that, the problems begin when we start to mix and match.
Am a's, b's and novices can shape their own destiny, just like we are trying to do, they pay their entrance fee as we do and have just as much right as the pros do, over their own destiny.

I don't want to play against pros!
I want to train against them, i want to watch them play other pros, but i do not like getting on the field against a pro team.
It's a total waste of time and money!

I think you'll find that most players would rather play in their own division.
Ask them. Better yet, have a look at the poll on this section of the forum.
I talked to a lot of other teams this weekend in AM B, and the ALL said the same thing, playing pros was a waste of time.
If you go out to a Millenium Series tourney, you are guanenteed 10 games, but you know if you get a good pro team, then you're guanenteed to lose one game. I don't pay a fat wad of cash to go across europe to play a game that i can never win.

It's better for me to play against teams in my own division, to get really good, win my division, then move up to AM A.

But, as we're starting to get more spectators we need to show them good games. As novel as it is to watch someone like Portsmith Uni ( no offence guys) play someone like Dynasty, it's far better to watch Dynasty play Miami Effect, the IronMen, or Avalanche! If you're going to sit around when you're not playing you're going to want to watch game you know you'll enjoy. I saw hordes of spectators moving from field to field to watch pro teams play each other. It's what the mob wants dude, you gotta give it to them.
Ignore the handfull of diluded sadomachochists who want to go out and get a kicking against the pro teams, they should be committed anyhow. The mob wants to see the best play the best, so let's let them have it.

And it will make events much easier to schedule.

Rancid, thanks for voicing a different opinion, it's important that we look at boths sides of each situation. In this case though i strongly feel that common sense says you play in your own division.

concerning division play each other

i agree with sam concerning am A play pro. it s true there is a big difference between play dynasty and baltica.
my team is a good example :
this year, we play :

portugal.
pro : Hardore : we won
Pro : Dynasty : we lost

Germany :
pro : Dynasty : we lost

hollands :
pro : dynasty : we lost

STOP playing dynasty. we don't want to play dynasty anymore

16 am teams beat pro teams at Toulouse. For those teams, it was the best game of the year, and certainly not a waste of time.

Awwww c'mon Red. I follow your posts, and I cannot believe you think this poll is representative. Let's do a secret ballot at Toulouse, and let ME do the wording.

I think, without checking back, I'm the only person putting up an argument - oh no, I think Tukisilva posted summat and got savaged. And that's a big worry. The last time I posted about arguably anti pro stuff, I got told to fk off back to the woods. So, do these figures represent all the Mill players, or do they represent a certain number who follow the flow, and gang together.

The mob wants to see the best play the best, so let's let them have it.

What on earth could I do to stop it? But Red, we need to debate these things. And it certainly should not be 'Hey Robbo, talk Niall into it being pro vs pro only'. Or, 'get the epa to change things'. I want the epa to work, and it wont work if it develops or gets the rep of just following the words of one or two, even if he is my mate, and coach of the team I sponsor!

Cheers. That makes my posts worthwhile. Sniff. I've gone all emotional.

I doubt I could persuade Niall or any other board member for that matter to do my will as was so evident with X-ball.
I think what sometimes happens is that I put something up on the board and other people run with it, all cool in my book as long as people think it is the right thing to do.

2) May happen in the FA cup but the FA cup would mean very little without the league as a year long backdrop.
And Man Utd do not play Welling Utd in the ultimate battle of the premiership....
In most sports, the league comes first, with any cup championships as an addendum.
Foot ball is different any way as money and big business are already the driving force.

For instance if Man U full out of the cup they lose a small amount of money but for the smaller clubs who make it to the 4th or 5th round (Farnborough Town made it this year to meet Arsenal just before the Quarter finals) But the money for them in gate recipets alone was more than they could dream of.

I am not sure how the MS really play the divisions is it a mix of pro am a and b and nov in a division then finals are played?

Why not have one like a champions League fixture?

5/6 teams in a div of random choosing could be all pros could be a mix (pull out of hat sceneario) then the top 2 from each division go into the quater finals semis etc etc.

Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick but first off people need to decide what format will work for every one. Whether it be a mix of teams of just you own divisions.

I think some one needs to clarify (or post a link to another thread if it has already happened) how the teams are entered into their divisions and what method the games are organised. Surely it would best if it was just a league table where every one played everyone else once or twice? It makes it the fairest way of getting the results.

So far All I have heard is how each team is at a disadvantage from a certain draw or because of the way things were chosen.
