Sorry, didn't realise we weren't supposed to express our opinions too. My mistake.
People are just discussing the thread, not always having a go at you........ so you don't really need to defend yourself like that every time someone posts something new....
so, OK, you've changed your POV, fine, but lots of other people still take exception to newbies buying new kit......... I was at a practice a few weeks back, seasoned players were coughing "punter" under their breath whenever certain "newbies" took to the field.......it was horrible, great way to encourage new people to the sport.
Great that you've changed your mind, but it's still an interesting thread worth posting on.

Also, what's wrong with a poor player buying himself good kit? if he still enjoys the sport who gives anyone the right to take it from him? any of us playing PRO? then surely we don't deserve to be using top end kit either. I don't fool myself into believing paintball will ever be more than a weekend thing for me, I love it and I'm improving but it's still just fun. Didn't stop me from getting my E-blade though.

It's probably long-winded and sarcastic replies that put my back up and make me defend this thread, rather than actual opinions.

What probably started me off was people asking in the classifieds what money to spend on the markers, when in my opinion, it wouldn't have made any difference to the way they play. Now I'm not in any position to tell people how to spend their money, but I just thought it was a waste and they'd be better advised to save it.

Having marshalled teams at the weekend using tippman's and absolutely rocking the fields, wearing old camos and conventional sports tops, I think people could take a leaf out of these guys books.

But feel extremely welcome to keep on posting your opinions guys

;)

It helps your confidence if you look and feel good in your kit. I was chatting to one player at the last M25 (name escapes me - sorry) who said that since they all started wearing the same new team kit, they have played so much better as a team and feel good when they go out to play.
Who cares if someone can't play/doesn't fit the image, if they are having fun? Stop being spoil sports!
Looking good when I go out, always helps me to play the field better... ;) :D

well it werent me, but i said exactly the same thing, all our team now has the same blue JT top, and now that we look the part, i now feel the part (of a team that is) and i can confidently go out on the field looking a part of the team, and when we walk off, everyone one can see that we are good losers(if we lose) and that we are happy when we win(if we win!:( )

'Looking good when I go out, always helps me to play the field better...'

think that was prob one of us (us being Team Quake) we've only just started playin in the same gear, blue dye tops, dye beanies and dye troos (kinda like dye) the fact we're all dressed the same kinda helps everyone feel more like a team an less like a collection of players. this along with trainin, playin and hangin out together requarly has really brought our performance on. An all we've done is buy new clothes and run around in them a bit:D

so my final opinion is, if you have the ability to play ball (almost everyone does) then buyin top end kit will increase your performance due to the very nature of it's features,

trainin will also improve you big time so peeps with entry gear who train a lot playin peeps who eat pies and talk a good game, never train and have £2000 markers and gear. well i think they'd be pretty evenly matched if not tippin towards the training team.

train reguarly and buy the best gear and your onto a winner and your playin level can only get better

my 20p thankyou please

For the umpteenth time, I've acknowledged that players can't progress until they've got good equipment- actually said it a few times now.

Sour grapes from people who can't afford better stuff? Who's that directed at? I started this thread, so I hope it's not at me.

Fair enough to people who want to go out and buy expensive gear- I'm not going to argue that anymore, as people explained why- and I've taken that in.

Got anything new to say then?
i do understand wot ur originally gettin at but i dont agree that many peeps do. they are just trying to improve themselves as best they can once they have the kit theres only the game to work on. maybe u know of some guys that think they are the nuts just cause they have the gear, yes there proberly out there but is that so bad if their spending lots of cash thats surely a good thing for the whole industry.;)
