Does anyone else get the impression that theres loads of people out there who believe to be a good player you've got to spend loads of money on getting all the best gear?

Whats the point in spending a fortune on markers if you've got no game in the first place?

Example: people who to have a rewarding game can say that they shot 9 pots or whatever- does shooting loads of paint substitute winning?

Personally- kit and equipment will never replace the thrill of hanging a flag. You can talk all day about balls per second, but can you ever talk about what you've won?

well my cocker is like no bling at all and it does its job just perfect, hence why im keeping the old body on it and not wastinf £170 on something i dont need:rolleyes: i can carry 9 pots, as im a back player, but i usually only shoot about 3 when we win because i move up the field quickly

One thing to note, however, is that every team that consistently wins is gear and paint sponsored. They shoot the best, fastest markers available, and use cases upon cases of paint. Just because they have nice gear and use alot of paint, does that mean they don't have skill? Obviously not, or they wouldn't win. Does being able to shoot more paint faster than the competition give you an edge? Why else would the pro's use such markers? It takes alot of skill AND nice gear to compete at a pro level

I think you've kind of missed my point slightly. I'm not talking about pro-levels: the skill is obviously there. I'm talking about people who think by spending lots of money on kit, they deserve to become good.

Rubbish, hanging the flag is well knackering, one of our front guys never runs the flag in unless he has to.......for that exact reason ;)
And I think to a certain degree things like ROF have a big role in todays games, think about it your shooting a stock cocker (nowt wrong with em, Ive owned one in my time) and you see a guy move from one bunker to the next, you shoot at him, but you dont get him as you can only shoot like 4-6 balls a second, then your in the same scenario but shooting a eBladed cocker, you see the guy move and straight off you have more balls in the air and a better chance of hitting him.......see my point. :)
