As for the scoreboard - I was only speaking from a spectator point of view.... and yes, something should be done to ensure teams knew where they were on time... but until such solution is found, I suggest you guys do like you did in X-Ball.... have someone in the team assume the responsibility of keeping track of time ;)

Nick

I was not there so i can only go on what the lads have said ,

But the NXL have mini Score boards in the pit areas with the clock counting down, with the score on it , would this be that hard to do?

So what do we do when a player knows he is hit and plays on,
Aaaahhh - but how do we know he knew? ;)

That is the whole point of the rule change before this season.... that when you have the distinction between obvious and inobvious, you get the whole debate saying "oh no, I had no idea...." - whereas in 90% of the cases a player KNOWS he is hit.... we've all been there and we all know.... by far most of the time you know when you get hit.

It's much easier to just assume a player always knows in terms of the rules, because you then get past that whole issue..... and as said, even if he didn't "know", he is still playing the game and may (or may not) cause damage to the opponents.

Hard job

I have read in this thread and I agree in many points.
I understand way they have to be harder on the 141 that been gicing on the field. But what I dont understand is why they do it even after the player ask'd for paintcheck.

Several times a player moved one bunker up, got hit, asked for paintcheck on a spot he could not se for him self. This reff cleared him but an other reff did see the hit, came up eliminated him and pulled a 141.

This did I see several times. What do you sugests we players do in that senario.

It wasent just that u got pulled on a 141 for hits that u couldnt see or feel, they pulled u for 141 on hits that u just got, wanted to check put u didnt made to check ur self becouse a ref came running and shouting 141!!! Some refs were so ****** stupid that they never gave the player the chance to check them self....This happend all the time on the CPL FIELD.

SOM, HEY!!!! REFS JUST CHILL OUT A SEC!!!!!

Well i have to say that i thought that the Marshalling was the best i have had for a long time, i know i can only say this for the fields that i played, but it was really fair, and i am not just saying this beacause my team came 3rd as we had some 1-4-1's and even a 2-4-1 in the final. To think how many game's they Marshalled, they are bound to make a couple of mistake's, i know there is always call's for pro marshall's, but i think you should have Marshall's to do a morning of each event and other's to do the Afternoon, as when you need them to be at there best on the final afternoon when they are very tired as they have already done 2 an a half days!!!
So well done to the Marshall's!!

Stealers AM.
No attacking the Bitburg Reffs here in any shape or form. Been there done that and know how hard it is.

Your idea about morning and afternoon Reffs is not half bad, problem is again you need more bodies to do the job and again that means you need to find an equal level of experienced Reffs to do the job or players will complain that the morning crew was better than the afternoon one, etc!

Pro Reffs I personally think are the only forward.

Btw...well done Twizz and Stealers!

Oli

Back to what Giles (i think) said about the music, and not being able to hear the buzzer, i marshalled the Div 1 1-4th finals as well as the 1-4th CPL finals. and in between points from the centre of the field i was struggling to hear the buzzer because of the music. and i no of many a ref on the field who shouted to get the music turned down at 1 min before game on.

To me, the 141 rule is not there to penalize a player that breaks a rule - but rather to make the game fair - by removing an extra player, when an eliminated player (or rather a player that OUGHT to have been eliminated) has been playing the game for a period of time.
If a ref sees a player playing on and that player eliminates an opposition does the opposition get reinstated? If they do, then surely that redresses the unfairness, meaning the 141 is an additional punishment.

This begs the question, 'What counts as playing on?' Are players allowed to continue to the nearest bunker before checking themselves? Would doing so really result in a significant unfair advantage to their team, that would require redressing?

The rule is supposed to allow for movement completions as long as call for check or self check is done immediatly once there. It is not meant to be a 1 4 1.

Also as the ref presumably saw the hit while player is moving it should be an elimination not 1 4 1.

This depends on what "move completion" means. If taken literally that means you could be breaking out to the 20, get hit on your shoulder, then keep running to the 50 or even 60 before saying a word about a paintcheck, and then tell the ref you were just completing your move. Hell, you could even do a run-through to the other end.

The only logical rule or interpretation thereof in this context is to cut off to the nearest prop if you suspect you may have received a valid hit. And the first thing you better be doing, if you have a decent and fair ref, is looking for the hit or calling for a paintcheck BEFORE you post up. Anything else is, in fact, playing on and unfair to the player/team that shot you.

To the other points, refs should always allow a reasonable amount of time for players to react to an impact. It takes maybe a half-second to one second to do so IMO.
