Thats harsh man
He was only trying to have his say!
And spelling doesn't actually mean your clever!
do you moan that your docters a dopey b@stard when he scribbles a pile of Eligible **** on your prescription NO!
Dave was trying to get his point across (which he did) and i still understood it
everyone knows its harder to spell when typing
maybe next time dave you should appologise and mention you have dyslexia rather than pulling out the dyslexia card.
On to the thread.
Well maybe a chat service might work ( already been mentioned before) or a thread named "bars"
cheers

I dont think that we can use the "freedom of speech" thang here.
P8 is owned by someone and has appointed moderators to see that the forums run smooth. So if they decide that something should stop, then it should. If we wanna use the forums then we should obey the rules. Other paintball forums are so much more strict as to what can be said. No swearing, nothing political etc.
So lets not try to piss the guys off who do a great job.
A little while back I was involved in a thread which some people decided was too long and didnt really have any positive impact on the forum. Even though I may not have totally agreed with what people were saying, I did see where they were coming from. Hence I have tried to curb any bollox posts. I took my slap on the wrist and got on with life.
I think the problem is that the forum has degenerated into posting for the sake of posting. I still love to read what people post up but it isnt really pushing the sport foreward. So how about some of the veteren posters starting a few good threads which are paintball related which everyone can have an opinion on.
If I am talking a load of poo then constructive critisism is welcome.

Cheers.

ROFL, Robbo, u moan about threads putting people off these forums, yet you openly insult the people on them!

Kinda getting a feeling ya getting to big for your boots mate.

Apocalypse in the top 9 threads? good on ya lads. Goes to show that our concept of bringing ballers together to make 1 big happy family is paying off, Oh no hang on, We cant talk about the social side of Pball here, We have to email.

Now lets see,
Dear team x, we are going out to the pub, Please be our friends.

As opposed to a thread that lets a little about our team, our personalities and our goals out into public.

Which would you choose?

The people involved in the multiple postings, are the people who are up and coming in this sport, The people who need and want to network. I dont see that as abuse. (Insert smart arsed remark anywhere u like robbo)
I see the moderators abusing the public as abuse.

Who watches the watch men?

I am seriously intrested in complaining on the remark you made to Dave robbo, Just because you can play the game and know your stuff doesnt make you untouchable.

So come on. Whos the Govenor?

Oh and as an addition, Apocalypse does have their own forum and it is used for Apocalypse stuff.

This forum is where we advertise/promote the coalation of as many teams as possible. Yes i agree that some posts here are not so good, But they were also not normally started by an Apocalypse member.

Apocalypse are out here, working for the good of the sport, bringing people together to enjoy the sport on and off the field.
We stand for fair play and friendship.
We will happily help any baller out with games/training/advice etc.

I personally think the posts in question are not 100% pball related, but do help to promote the game.

Whats the alternative? Stop the posts, cut the traffic down, Fill the forum with stale posts about "who thinks this gun is better than that gun?"

Yeah, people so wanna read those ones!
I would say look at the view counter alongside these posts, If no one wants to read this stuff, how come they do??? :)

I think part of the proble from my point of view is where an interesting thread degenerates into a chat between friends. I have to keep reading 'cause half the time the thread gets back on point & I don't want to miss it if it does.
Robbo - what about your & Nick's arguing - does that count at stuff that should be moderated? ;) ;) ;)

Again, you miss the entire point, so lemme spell it out.

p8ntballer.com averages something like 40,000 unique visitors a month; over the next 12 months we hope to get up to around 10k registered forum members. Now if every team/rec group member used tha board as a personal messaging service then the top 5 thredz would look like this:

Team Wipeout practice - see y'all t2morrow guys

Harry - you coming to tha field tomorrow?

Good job Team Blizzard

Team SAD practice - anyone wanna come?

Training day for Apocalypse - anyone wanna join us?

Now see tha problem?

Meet people on the board, get acquainted, talk pball...you soon work out where people are from and what they're like, and you can message people in your area who may be interested in your team's practice/need for a new player/whatever; but it doesn't need broadcasting to an international community, 90% of which don't even live in the same country as you.

Now maybe you think that the scenario outlined above would be fine - that's your opinion. Trouble is, it's not ours - and we are in charge. As Crom Dubh said, it ain't about freedom of speech, it's about people who use this FREE service - which takes a lot of time and money to run - respecting the requests of those who run it.

TJ's got my back.

No matter where you go online (whether it's a forum, IRC channels, e-mail etc), you're still kindly requested to follow certain rules. With the whole internet thingy (sorry Ali G, "intranet" innit) becoming so popular, people are flooding up bandwidth worldwide, thus necessitating moderators and such who simply must police the use of public networks.

I don't know about you, but I find it very irritating (as mentioned before) when a good solid Robbo vs Some Backward No Cheddar Having Waste Of Life thread dwindles into inane drivel.
The moderators are doing a job to protect this forum, something I can't say for quite a few other forums. If the mods (The Monkees?) aren't doing their jobs this forum becomes more boring than watching a chocolate eating contest.

If some of you so-called freedom of speech supporters still don't grasp this simple, common sense-like idea, what are you still doing here?

Oh and by the way, some of you need to lighten up (or be lit up)and stop taking so much personal offense to nearly everything. Y'all should get out more often.
:D

Just so you know !!!

Firstly, try to read again the two posts where I dig this geezer out.
The first is a jokey poke at somebody who puts himself up for the job as a moderator on this site, and with no disrespect intended, I mention that he might not be best qualified.
Now the tone of that post was 100% benign, not in any way was I being serious as the smiley face indicated.

Secondly, the reason the second post took the tone it did was that this dick feigned an affliction as a device to deflect any criticism away from himself and make me the bad guy.
Well, I wouldn't have minded so much had the guy been truly born with dyslexia but if there is one word dyslexics can spell, it is the word that describes their condition.

So I was pissed off at the guy for trying to turn it all around on a lie and the sort of person to pretend he has some congenital affliction just to make me look bad is a piece of s##t as far as I am concerned.
But if you guys want to stand behind such a man, then that is your choice, then go off to your own little server somewhere, create you own self-affliction site and you can talk all day about how many diseases you have all got and how nasty that man Robbo is.

At least I am true to myself and others when I write stuff on thee boards !!!!

And thirdly, you guys talk about free speech, let me ask you to think about something, I am the editor of the Daily Telegraph, each day, I send out my reporters and take articles and matters of interests in from our contributors.
The idea is for people to buy my newspaper because they think they will find in it, subjects that may interest them.
The pages are open to anyone and anybody who has a story, they for the most part are self-regulating i.e. contributors send in the stories of their choice and they are automatically printed.
How long do you think the Daily Telegraph would stay on the shelves with that sort of editorial policy ?
Nobody would buy the damn thing with stories like, ‘Are you going down the pub tonight’? and the next fifty pages of asinine replies……
You people who bandy about the ‘Free rights’ issue haven’t realised that free speech is a political consideration for society as a whole not to be imposed on every communication media just because you want it.
We have the right, just as the Daily Telegraph has a right to protect its content and in so doing protect its readership.
You don’t like it ?
Then go and buy the Sun, I’m sure you will be very happy.

Robbo

Famine : Hope u read above and realised the first post was not insulting !!!
As for your proposition ?
Well, the ethos is correct but I would have to say that everything is ok in 'MODERATION' (no pun intended) but God !!!! there’s just tooo damn much drivel covering these pages.
And u can complain all u like about whatever u feel like and to whoever you like, but Famine just don't talk about doing it, DO IT !!!!!
I don't give two ****s and where the hell do you get off saying it's got anything to do with what I do on the field of play ?
That connection you and that Dave make amazes me, I think it's in both your heads coz it certainly ain't in mine.

Kris, may seem harsh but when you look at what i just wrote, you will see I was pissed off with the type of man / boy who would feign illness for his own ends.
I agree the ability to spell is not always a good indicator on intelligence but please, re-read my initial post to that Dave, it was a frikkin joke, he chose to react it in the way he did and then compounded his mistake by downright lying at the expense of the people who really do suffer from dyslexia.
I hope u get my point !!!

Liz, well at least it is paintball based because at its core is a disagreement between him and myself regarding the subject of tactics as used in paintball.
I think you would agree that there is a link to paintball and when Nick gets his finger outa his ass and replies, others reading it will definitely learn a thing or two....but I have to say.... I won't learn a thing from him :)

Hey Robbo, there was no offense meant in any way (note the lots of winking smileys after my last post). I found that thread really entertaining, just couldn't resist the opportunity at taking the pi$$ for once :D
Having watched you play for more years than either of us would probably want to admit to, I must say I agree that Nick probably couldn't teach you anything
