I DIDN'T START THIS FRATRICIDE SCORING SYSTEM!!!!!
But if lies about the victums are wrong, what makes lies about those who pulled the trigger in error right? Especially since we don't have a clue what led to these tragedies. Where's your outrage about that?

ah right thinking of a different crash the one where 6 brit commandoes were killed and 2 americans. however you didn't see the british complain (apart from cockersrules) on these boards when you lot killed our boys did ya? yea it was ravenous (his post) but it was true...no real scapegoats...on our point i was thinking of a totally different crash so i'll retract that statement near the top of the page.

Everyone's an expert on football and war

I haven't got time to correct all the misunderstandings on this thread - too busy working on War Studies Masters degree. All I will say is that no other field of human endeavour is as complex and emotive, with common sense meeting paradoxical logic, with such a perplexing matrix of interlocking factors, many of them invisible to the public. To even begin to understand the phenomenon of war one must have a comprehensive grasp of politics, history, philosophy and economics, and a little psychology helps, but isn't essential.

You wouldn't walk into a hospital and expect the doctor to ask everyone in the waiting room whether they should operate on you. You'd rather have the expert's opinion. The same is true of war. War Doc's like Sir Lawrence Freedman, or Dr Joe Spear, know what they are talking about - the former is for military counter-proliferation and against sanctions - the latter, I suspect, believes in the opposite. If you want to further your knowledge, I recommend checking them out - they're often on the TV, or in newspapers. If all you know about war is stuff scavenged from journalists or picked up from Vietnam war movies, then maybe you should ask yourself before you write, 'Do I really know what I'm talking about.' Perhaps you're not an expert on football or war after all.

Nope..Debate shoudnt stop at all...But you know that level of discourse that seems to be raging doesnt help in the least bit when our military is fighting and theres nothing you or I can do to stop it...In all this,I never hear "pray for out troops and POW's"..All im hearing still is No War and No Blood For Oil while young British and US troops are dying....Its useless now to keep bellying on about something thats started..That was my point, nothing else..Im trying to be nice here Duff;)

What's worrying me at the minute is the possibility of new fronts opening up...Turkey look like they fancy a spot of impromptu ethnic cleansing, and you've got to worry about forces, official or otherwise, coming in from Iran and/or Syria.
Agreed..But there's large amounts of Special Forces up North and the 81st Airborne is on call to step in if Turkey decideds it needs to stop a massive influx of Kurd refugees:rolleyes:..Iran and Syria could cause a few problems..Its seems like Iran isnt having any problem shooting at coalition planes that mistakenly cross into thier air space and im just waiting for Syria to give a reason to bomb that little **** Assad..Im thinking Syria is next anyway after Iraq is done and over..:(

The real problem is going to be what happens when the war is won - do the administration have a clue how a replacement regime will function, who it will be made up of etc.? If troops remain, the whole Arab world gets mad, if troops go, what's to stop Iran wading in and destabilising a new regime finding its feet if they feel it suits their needs?

Well,an agreement was signed I believe last Sat between all the major opposition groups exiled to form a government in a post war Iraq..Thats pretty monumental considering the Kurds were allowed to sign as well:D..US troops will probably stay to stablize while leaving most of the everyday tasks to them...Rebuilding will be interesting to see as everybody's up in arms as to who gets the contracts..Im thinking it will be a majority of US companis(who woulda thought:p)and British companies who will reap the benefits..And Iran wading in and destabilising the region???Why would they wanna do something like that;)..The hardliners have nothing to worry about once a free government is set up right at thier back door..Between Afghanistan and Iraq, they should feel real comfy for a long time to come...

The Turkish national football team play England in a couple of days...200 yards from my house, any trouble and I'll blame the war-mongers.
Oh and before you get on your high horses and come back with a clever "tree-hugger/peacenick etc... response" why are you typing and not holding a gun? If you support the war so much, why aren't you fighting? or are you prepared to let other people die for what you believe to be right? (those too young/old to enlist excepted).
I'm anti-war, it doesn't make me anti-soldier, If a serviceman is pro-war, then I respect his position he's prepared to die for his convictions and he's doing something about it. But supporting the war effort by arguing with paintballers isn't doing a lot for the war effort is it?
