>>>Now while I fully agree with your right to disagree, dont you think its time to forget all about whether we do or dont want this war and start supporting the people who are half a world away fighting in a hell of sand for the freedoms

Nah, debate doesn't stop just cos it's on...of course we all hope there's a minimal loss of life on all sides but I don't think discourse should stop at any level.

What's worrying me at the minute is the possibility of new fronts opening up...Turkey look like they fancy a spot of impromptu ethnic cleansing, and you've got to worry about forces, official or otherwise, coming in from Iran and/or Syria.

The real problem is going to be what happens when the war is won - do the administration have a clue how a replacement regime will function, who it will be made up of etc.? If troops remain, the whole Arab world gets mad, if troops go, what's to stop Iran wading in and destabilising a new regime finding its feet if they feel it suits their needs?

Plus what worries me is that this conflict seems to radicalise the world. Justified or not, a large part of the Muslim community view this was as an attack on the Islam. Even a good proportion of the more moderate ones seem to feel this way.
This could easily create new feelings of animosity towards the Western world, and the US in particular.
Unless the cause of these feelings get dealt with, this sh*t will never cease, and the "war on terrorism" will never end. If we're not very careful, this will degenerate into a "us against them" thing. Perhaps the goal of this war is to make the world a safer place, but the way things are going now, it will accomplish anything but that.

"According to the intercepted radio traffic, the US forces have sustained up to 40 killed, up to 10 captured and up to 200 wounded during the fighting near An-Nasiriya. There is confirmed information about one lost attack helicopter and an unconfirmed report about a lost ground attack plane. The US forces have also lost up to 40 armored vehicles, including no less than 10 tanks. Several intercepted reports by the US field commanders stated that their troops are unable to advance due to their soldiers being demoralized by the enemy's fierce resistance and high losses."

"The overall British losses on the Fao peninsula during the past four days of fighting include up to 15 killed and up to 100 wounded. The Iraqis lost here up to 100 killed and around 100 captured."

Slight difference in figures, to what we have been told

CAMP AS SAYLIYAH, QATAR - Two British Royal Navy helicopters collided early Saturday morning over the Persian Gulf, killing all seven on board, military officials said.

The two Sea King helicopters were not struck by enemy fire, said Group Capt. Al Lockwood, a spokesperson for British forces in the Gulf. Six British crew members and one American were on board.
OK, so it was one American killed. Probably because they couldn't find a 2nd American dumb enough to ride with Brit pilots. ;)
If you have a problem with people looking for scape-goats, can I expect you to respond to cockersrule's ignorant post?

Absolutely! When in doubt go to the Russians. Perhaps you can pick up some cheap GPS jammers and anti-tank weapons if they haven't all been sold to Saddam already.

Easiest way

Don't believe anyone right now - everyone's playing the propaganda game, it's part of the conflict...truth will out eventually.
